Lol.

I don't even know what people like about those dance-videos, to be honest. Other than that they're under 60 seconds.

A 15-minute video will get less traction than 15 1-minute videos. Doesn't this go against the whole concept of holism, where the 15-minute video is greater than the sum of its parts?!

How long do you think this is going to last?

catchy dance moves and catchy music, for 60 seconds and less. Mainly because the tech companies and those running the companies are smart enough to know how to hijack the limbic system of the brain, and take advantage of dopamine hits. Along with that knowledge, they also can tailor their algorithms and in most cases the majority of those short to very short videos gets upregulated far more based on views and click and likely emotional triggering topics, over videos with much less click and views potential. And this is just limited to dancing, there are a ton of content mostly entertainment of drawings, sped up paintings, cat videos, edited clips of music and rap songs, jokes, political satire, porn videos, twerking, and so on. All range from 10 seconds, to 15-20, 30 40-50, sometimes 1-2 mins.

No, this doesn't contradict Holism, this is also part of the totality within existence, including this social media addiction manufactured by Silicon Valley tech companies, and in this specific case, Hua Wei and Chinese government as soft form of mass moral degradation.

Until we have enough on-going research to show stronger correlations of over consumption of social media short edited clips and other forms of social media to negative impacts of brain health and lower IQ to EQ scores generationally. Or, when it's time for America to treat this problem seriously and unify much more the polarized groups.

How is tiktok any worse than any other social media site?

Stupid decision.

The reason is because Tiktok is Chinese and the US government doesn't like them spying on US citizens, ironically.

They also consistently refuse to obey things like Western copyright law.

Tik Tok is design by Hua Wei, a Chinese citizen, that has to abide by the laws of the CCP's rules, that is, if a CCP member requests data on a profile user, from a western country or other foreign country visiting China, Hua Wei has to accept and allow that profile and user data to them. As a consequence of this, any western cultured user, especially from the USA, are at risk of having their personal data be used by the CCP, potentially against them should they decide to visit China for some reason. Also, some research has been done collecting data on the negative effects of social media, particularly Tik Tok and fast paced content consumption, having strong correlations of degrading a person's mental health and mental capacity to focus for loner periods of time.

It seems like a stupid decision, but it's not, it's simplistic at first, but something has to be done against Tik Tok and it's corrosive effects it has to the younger generation.

The difference is, China has strict regulations on kids/teens watching social media. US has zero.

China litterally forces the algorithm to show educational and science videos to kids. And kids are limited to something like 2hrs of social media and video games per week.

Meanwhile America is breeding a generation of morons addicted to silly dance videos.

This kind of moral decay is exactly the legit aspect of conservative fears.

Yet, most conservatives in the US don't want most Americans to become much more educated than they already are. Otherwise, the American people will become too knowledgeable and too smart to be manipulated by the right wing fear mongering and they will eventually demand the government to enact more liberal and progressive policies that would improve greater social justice and economic equality in our country.

Other than that, I am sure that Tik Tok really is full of unnecessary junk.

I hope not, I had grow a lot on Tiktok and this year I started to make some money on it. Many people criticize it without direct experience, there is some good content equally to youtube. Ofc there is a lot of unnecessary things, but again same on those others platforms, you are responsable of the content you watch, so I follow people I get inspired by.

@OBEler Yes and no. You can upload up to 10min. now on tiktok, since I guess last year. There are ways that tiktok is differently organized compared to youtube and the way you create content.

Sure, but YouTube has far more interesting and educational topics compared to Tik Tok. Also, not literally everything needs to be directly experienced to know it's bad, and sometimes some degree of direct experience is all you need. It all depends on stages of development, cognitive and moral development, personality types, ego development, states of consciousness, life experiences and other lines of development in different areas of life, plus ideologies indoctrinated from upbringing. Most people don't need to murder someone to know that murder is bad, and just tasting soap already is enough to know eating soap might be very bad. For me, as I've done enough inner work, I can already from viewing some tik tok videos the feeling of junk food and brain fog, I just suddenly feel ill minded and lazy from just a few tik toks. It's a disturbing feeling, to which I'm sure most young minds in the younger generation aren't as sensitive to.

@Danioover9000 haha are you really comparing TikTok with murder bro? Lol. Ofc youtube has better and interesting content, it’s been with us over decades now compared to Tiktok, youtube can be way more patience since it is mostly long format content which I love it too. There is low conscious content on both platforms, so just because you’ve seen some Mr. Beast or whoever content creator on youtube you’ll think now that youtube is bad? Idk man, again, you are responsable of what you search, there is good stuff to learn on Tiktok and grow, without direct experience, idk how you can conclude on such ideas.

@Danioover9000 It is true that the lost art of Tiktok reduces the attention span of the users who use the platform. The platform is high sensationalism, low mental intensity entertainment in order to maximize attention on the platform. The resultant of this is that there is degradation in the mental health of the users on the platform. The result of this is that the people who use tiktok all day have a hard time with concentration.

I can conclude on such ideas, although I have my own biases and preferences, just a short time on Tik Tok I felt mind raped by the fast paced low quality content. I had to take another shower, it's that bad.

Yes, this is what I was saying in other words. It's like I ate way too much greasy burgers, just swimming in oil. I just felt mentally sluggish and more stupider consuming content that fast paced, like a herded sheep.

@Danioover9000 Well, idk what kind of content do you watch bro but you can def look up great stuff and tutorials on there, same goes for youtube.

Advice maybe? Don’t be too much on your phone/computer, I even turn off my internet when I’m not using it! So when I comeback and do some work on social media, is just a easy come and go, not too big of a issue for my mind. The internet is a MEGA tool, know how to use it.
