Republican congresswoman literally cries regarding the same-sex marriage bill

10 posts in this topic

Her gay nephew spoke up saying she needs to learn to coexist. I’ve got some very conservative family members who claim that their party values facts over feelings, so I showed them this video. Looks like there’s a lot of GOP infighting due to this same sex marriage bill. I truly don’t see how GOP will ever succeed politically with much of its antiquated ideologies given that we are going into 2023 here.

Too bad for her and her constituents.

People like her have no choice but to live with the fact that times have really changed.

This was a funny one.

The religious gaslighting from her is priceless.

Please protect my right to impose my religion on you.

Conservatives like her have always used the same kind of gaslighting throughout much of US history.

The Southern Democrats in the 60s said similar things when they vehemently opposed all of those civil rights and voting rights legislation that ultimately ended Jim Crow.

Strom Thurmond, who was at first a notable Democratic Senator from the South, said before he turned into a Republican, that the Democrats had "abandoned the people" and "repudiated the U.S. Constitution" and that all of these Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts allowed the federal government to greatly infringed upon states' rights.

I just love how many republicans say that they were the ones who abolished slavery whereas the democrat party was the the opposite. That’s like saying Germany=bad because at one point we had Nazi Germany. It’s about who stands for what, now.

It’s not hate in her heart. It’s love.
She wants the world to reflect her values. It’s selfish, low quality love based on her conservative ideas. But, she likely actually believes in her ideas of marriage. When you believe God thinks being gay is wrong, you want to protect society.

Not agreeing or defending. Simply an attempt at seeing her perspective

Yes I caught that too.

Obviously the GOP rep is cringe. But also, Brian is mostly just reiterating Green talking points on this issue and not really understanding why this is important to her.
