Nondual Teacher talking to far right pundit

I came across this video where Aaron Abke has an interview with Jesse Lee Peterson - A far right youtuber and radio host. Aaron is a pretty advance spiritual teacher and he tries to explain nonduality and spirituality to Jesse however, his words get twisted to fit the right wing agenda. Its clear that jesse has no idea what Aaron is talking about because his mind is far too closed. I was surprised to see someone as spiritually advanced as Aaron even on this show, and at certain points in the interview he shows some pretty strong right wing opinions about abortion, vaccines, gender, etc.

It's worth a watch just to see that even spiritual masters can have some pretty conservative views.

It’s shocking how bad the politics of some spiritual people are. Understanding politics takes deep intentional study and contemplation. You don’t get it just by having awakening experiences, although that can help to a degree.

Part of the issue that some spiritual people spend all their time being spiritual and thinking politics doesn’t matter. But then that belief itself becomes your political stance. There is no-not having a political worldview.

The other issue seems to be that spiritual people often have a non-mainstream, contrarian perspective on the world. Think stage Green hippies. And although this serves them in some ways when it comes to spirituality, they also easily fall into conspiracy theories and general nonsense. Which makes their politics bad.

Had exactly the same experience with him, which is a shame because I think he was a really good teacher

Nope.

Non-duality is non-duality. It's not a value. It's an area of study, philosophy, approach to spirituality, however you want to use the term, but not a value.

Green is a label for a postmodern value system.

Since non-duality is not a value even some Red mafia thug can adopt it as a form of spiritual belief and for example use it to justify his socially harmful actions, for example by arguing that there is no-one being robbed, so he is not doing anything evil.

Spirituality does not guarantee that you understand politics.

Many legit spiritual people are still stupid. Probably most of them. That's what happens when you meditate too much and think too little.

How do you find the nexus between high consciousness in politics and high value in spirituality?

Knowledge of any finite domain requires experience and study. It never comes automatically just because you're spiritual or experienced in other domains.

This is domain-specific knowledge.

You're not gonna know engineering unless you study engineering. Nothing else will substitute for that.

I agree. However, even people with a high level understanding of politics like Don Beck for example, can be right wingers and support Trump. Its kinda crazy considering his knowledge and experience.

This video is a good example of this. At one point he even says, “Germany’s domestic policy has already for sometime been the destruction of its own society.” Dangerous words of wisdom from Shunyamurti!

Nurture fear on people, place yourself as the only one who "sees it all" and knows what to do.
