I think changing is the wrong word and I'm not nit picking. 

 

It just a process where you interact with people a lot, so it gets more intense and subtle at the same time where people will relate to it a lot more and you can hold other people's attention better.

 

You're not changing yourself to accomodate another. You are changed by the process of getting better socially.

It's perfect to get both at the same time. But unfortunately girls don't get wet on paper as much as society likes to portray it.

Pickup is basically psychological chess but obviously you need more than strategic reasoning to be successful in pickup.

Becoming a chess grandmaster certainly won't help with that.
