Yes.  Many women are attracted to men who are very detached.  Selfishness and arrogance can be attractive.  It adds spice to the relationship.  Unfortunately, that can be pushed to the extreme.  There exists in women the capacity to tolerate these extremes.  It's like a fetish.  Like you can enjoy a particularly spicy dish.  

Not saying that a conscious woman would do this.  But it's easy to fall into this trap as a woman.

True but age plays a role too. When women approach the 35-40 bracket they faced with the reality principle: their beauty won't last forever. A lot of them get faced with this principle even sooner. At this age they start to tolerate traits in guys they wouldn't tolerate before.

When a girl is in her prime a lot of girls think their beauty will last forever and they just are full on emotions and emotional decision making. 

I've discovered that game should be tailored to a girl's cognitive development.
