Are Men More Lonely Than Women?

22 posts in this topic

(please don't movie this to dating and sexuality, it isn't just about that)

I created a tinder profile as a man and got about 50 likes in a day Then I created a profile as a woman and got over 100 likes in an hour. Then I created another profile as a man, but this time I asked to see other men instead of just women and I got over 100 likes in a few hours.

it seems that not only are there more men than women on tinder, but there are even more gay men on tinder than there are women.

Also on Omegle (the most popular online random video chat) almost everyone using it is a man.

I have heard that male suicide is much higher than female suicide, and that men are less socially intelligent than women. Also I have seen multiple studies indicating that overall life satisfaction is mainly increased by meaningful relationships.

Why do men seem to be more lonely than women? why do they watch more porn and use dating sites and online video chats more?

You forgot to factor in if you're an average looking guy or worse. You won't get anywhere near 50 likes.

Yeah dude if you get 50 likes in a day you can call yourself super lucky. Of course the algorithm favours you at the start but still 50 likes is a lot for a guy. I don’t think I get 100 likes in a year and I would consider myself above average looking. Maybe I have to get more professional pictures idk.

I think it’s just easier to socialize for women because there is way less expactation for females. Men on the other hand should lead, be dominant, be funny, etc. (should build an attractive personality) That’s not easy to build, it takes a lot of effort. There is far less expectations for women. If they don’t have an attractive personality that’s a lot more exceptable. And playing the weak link is easier anyways. Also if women fuck up, be awkward, creepy, strange, .. it’s not a big deal most of the time while if a guy does these things it’s far worse.

How does this not belong in dating and sexuality?

@Osaid Because male loneliness is not just caused by a lack of dates and sex.

Its a broader issue about the differences between masculinity and femininity, friendship, and lack of connection to one’s surroundings in various ways.

The dating and sexuality section applies to all of sexuality, not just having sex and going on dates. So, that includes masculine and feminine dynamics, which is what your post highlights.

Yes, this would fit in sexuality. Your post in particular focuses on the differences between males and females in regards to loneliness.

You get 50 likes a day? I'll legit get 50 likes over the course of several months (4-6) if i keep swiping like 300-400 times/day consistently.

50 likes a day on tinder puts you nearly in the top 5% of men on the app, your own experiences are clouding your thinking, try creating a tinder account as an average man and see what results you get and ask that question again.

One of my friends explained to me "a lonley man is like having having a farm with no crops to show for, a lonely woman is like having to sift through many damaged, rotten, crops"

In each persons POV they probably feel the same emotional impact of loneliness, but ive talked to some guys who've put tremendous amounts of effort improving their lives only to be essentially invisible to women

Men are so lonely these days that they wouldn't mind if a ring girl crawled out of their tv.

I left this forum because a moderator has a problem with me talking positively about myself and giving advice. This reflects the forum as a whole. This place is negative, bitter, hateful and anti success. If you don't notice this that's because you're one of them. I hope some of you benefited from my posts. Take care.

In reality women are valued much lower than men and no amount of likes can compensate for the sexism.

A woman has to work 10 times harder to prove her worth at a workplace whereas for a man, it's kinda already decided that he is intelligent just because he is a man.

If a woman tries to set a rule she is called bossy and constantly judged for her appearance. Men are admired in a boss position.

A woman feels very lonely at the top because women don't support her due to fear and jealousy and men don't support her out of insecurity and rivalry.

Men automatically assume that women can't be intelligent and ignore them.

If a woman has a beautiful face she is generally considered vain on default even if she has more to offer other than her beauty. It's an automatic assumption that she only wants attention and all her other aspects are ignored.

If a woman doesn't look good enough, then critics use her appearance as a talking point rather than her contribution to drag her down.

A woman's challenges to survive and thrive are generally taken lightly or completely ignored because nobody wants to appreciate or understand her struggles.

Women are judged preemptively far more and far worse than men and she has to constantly bring attention to herself to be taken seriously or risk being ignored or underappreciated.

People empathize with ugly men and incels and consider their suffering to be intense. Men don't empathize with ugly women and relegate their suffering to fate.

Be careful being too demanding in relationships. Relate to the person at the level they are at, not where you need them to be.

It is tough for non attractive women.

I'm only speaking from my experience but I'm a sex worker and make most of my income off the loneliness of men. I would say yes, men are more lonely on average, but it could also be argued that men want physical attention more than women. Speaking very generally of course.

Are you sure you're not thinking about a few minority of men? Most men will never have a position of power or status in their life. Most men don't have their opinions valued by anybody, much less people thinking he's intelligent.

Who sympathizes with incels? Maybe a few other men in forums like this one but in general they're ridiculed or potentially even worse just left to rot.

I'm a massive believer in the bell curve where a few men do better than all women but all women beautiful or ugly have a better position than the lower-tier males. Average men and average women experience similar lives.

The thing that balances it out is that men have more control over their status than girls do

Much of the stuff was in relation to workplace politics in terms of male female dynamics. And men are usually favored more over women by industry leaders since men churn out more profit than women.

This forum is also a good example. Leo's demograph is mostly male, his profit maker, so everything here, even the dating section is mostly catering to men and their needs. Even if women said something, which they rarely do, they're usually shut down or not taken seriously, the reason women don't feel like posting here or they stop positing after a while.

The forum is a small microcosm of the world.

Girls struggle on average less in social situations. They have more friends in general. The dating aspect isn’t something that I would consider that impactful.

@Tyler Robinson I don't agree with you, but anyway, I don't  feele like arguing rn.

One of my favourite bands has just released a new album so I am going to go and listen to it.

Peace.

You're so cute. No peace. I feel like you're like a coconut that's hard on the outside but if I keep tapping it, eventually the sweet liquid will flow out. You seem like that to me, a little rough on the outside but so sweet on the inside Ukrainian.

Men definitely spend more time alone than women, that's a gender difference.

But I'm unsure whether that makes men lonelier because they are better adapted to handle being alone, whereas women require much more social connection to be happy.

As for dating, men are more active in all forms of dating, not just on apps. It's literally a man's job to go out there and hit on lots of women, whilst women are much more selective.
