thinking about trying meds for concentration.

I'm thinking about trying meds for concentration, like adderall or something else. I just got back in school and I zone out too frequently during class. My eyes keep looking at the teacher and following them around but I get lost in my thoughts. I would like to have a laser like focus. Otherwise it's hard to truly exploit my cognitive faculties and succeed in the course. I've also had lifelong depression and suicidal ideation but i've always been opposed to being on medication before. I wanted to keep fighting and to stay natural. However, in my current context it seems like pills for concentration would be me a quick momentarily boost during my studies.

I wanna hear about your advice or your experience with prescription (good and bad). Will I shoot myself in the foot if I start taking medication for concentration?

How do you feel about the content of the lecture? If it is boring, it is pretty normal to have difficulty focusing.

Dunno if I'd be taking cns stimulants for that purpose as you'll then have to take it regularly for the foreseeable future

Hey dude, I'd recommend considering seeing using prescription meds to deal with mental health issues as just one perspective.

So, I'd say do some research on your symptoms and the effects of the meds you are thinking of taking. I'd recommend trying to get perspectives from both doctors, and also people who have taken them, i.e. from youtube videos.  Then, if you decide to take them, I'd see it as an experiment, and find a way of tracking how you perceive the meds affect you.

Therefore, if you take the meds and you get results you want, then great! You have a new tool to consider continuing to use in, what i see to be, your mental health journey. And if you don't get the results you want, then, to my mind, you've now discovered that this tool (this certain prescription drug taken in your current circumstance) isn't what you need right now in your journey.

You can then move onto experimenting with another tool, i.e. a certain type talk therapy for example, if you so wish.

I was diagnosed with ADHD, when I was younger, but never prescribed anything. In college, I started taking Vyvanse and Adderall occasionally to boost my studies. Really what I needed was more dicipline. Not just sitting around playing league of legends till the last minute, then taking some stimulants to get it done. 

Also, having a really clean diet, exersize, and a good sleep routine is essential for this too. I find it much easier to focus now, but it helps being interested in the stuff as well.

Stop using social media or porn, avoid sugars and refined grains in your diet
