We all encounter setbacks of varying magnitude in our lives that derails us from the path of self-actualization and well being.Be it a death of a loved one or  some unexpected loss,or things we have no control over like an accident similar traumas. Then there are things that we do have some degree of control like failing an exam or having a divorce.I would like to know Leo,how you deal with traumas and setbacks, how you deal with regret,self-blame and other traumatic symptoms,How to pick yourself up and avoid spiraling downwards.

Setbacks usually cause me to re-assess my goals, cut all the fat, tighten my priorities, and get even more serious about my aims.

The biggest setback I had was 2 years ago with my legal case in Toronto.

I shot a video during that experience here: http://www.actualized.org/articles/staying-hungry

I used that event to light a fire under my ass and I accomplished more in the last 2 years than possibly ever. Most of Actualized.org's success was built during this time.

The 1st thing you need to practice is converting your negative thoughts into positive ones. It's your negative thinking that causes spiraling into defeat & all the symptoms associated with it. You *think* yourself into failure, while there's no such thing as failure - even bad experience is still experience. Learn to catch your negative thoughts at bay and turn them into neutral or positive, e.g. just because I had a bad morning doesn't mean I'm going to have a bad day.

I find letting go of any expectations or desired outcomes helps me to go with the flow of life and accept whatever comes my way. No doubt, serious loss or trauma can upset the flow and everyone responds differently. Accepting also that whatever happens, happens for a reason and is not within our control (we have no control after all), may help you to bounce back. Remember, when the going gets tough, the tough get going!

There's no such thing as a setback.

Such is the force of illusion and the rhythm of this thing called life.

Don't fight negative emotion, you'll make it worse. Everything will take care of itself. Relax, forgive yourself and trust the universe.

This is not the same as "don't do anything". Just trust your natural instinct. You'll know what to do. But don't do it. Let it happen.

I hope that was cryptic enough. :D
