How Much Does Sadhguru know?

This is similar to saying that skinny individuals are that way exclusively due to genetics.

Genetics play an important role, I hear tell, but being fit/healthy mostly relates to lifestyle factors that you can change. Habits then get compounded over decades to create the apparent end result.

You're looking for an excuse to load off your responsibility in the matter.

"Buddha was born that way." Horseshit.

Gotama threw himself into transcending suffering like very few humans have done before, that we know of. It wasn't about his genetics but about being really serious.

So I don't think that "having special qualities" is true in this field.

The work isn't done without your participation and commitment. That's ultimately what brings results, not genetics, environment or logistics.

Buddha was born a rich entitled kid who got everything handed to him.

It's a lot easier to awaken when you aren't a wage slave and you have a harem of women.

Jesus was certainly born with special powers. As a kid the other kids feared him because he killed a kid by cursing him.

You guys love to mythologize these guys.

He also claims to have a bunch of powers that I have absolutely no idea how to obtain. Is this just because yoga is way more powerful than I thought it was or what?

It's because he's extremely delusional. Dat mf'er claiming he can float in the air lmao. It's legit idiotic, srs.

The Buddhists believe that Buddha had been working on himself for multiple reincarnations in the past.  That could be confused with genetics, which is a recent explanation of scientific materialism.

What about Ramana?

Surely not having any (intellectual) knowledge of the possibility of enlightenment would be a huge impediment to realizing it, and yet it happened for him.

As far as we know, he was just a normal kid. Then he got profoundly enlightened, and now we attribute him special genetics or powers.

Dude, he was a complete genetic freak.

There was nothing normal about it.

If he was a normal kid, he's be shoveling shit for a living and chasing girls.

Just to be interested in meditation already requires you to be freak of mankind. All your meditative accomplishments were only possible thanks to the right genetics. Which is why you don't find donkey's following Buddhism.

Genetic freak = a lot of spiritual practice in past lives. Nothing strange about it :)

So according to you a kangaroo is just someone who hasn't don't enough spiritual practice?

And how does a kangaroo go about fixing this situation?

@Leo Gura i want to know if you are somebody and you will tell us that Leo is also gifted with right genetics what kind of Super power you have that genetics is responsible for being a Leo? Is it the right genetics of Thinking Deeply? Or what? What right genetics you have?

For someone like you i cannot pinpoint where or what kind but i think also you have a special genetics we will never become Leo and do you think all your accomplishments states of Consciousness you Realized is Possible to us? Or maybe it depends of what kind of Genetics that can uncover kinds of State of Consciousness for you it is what you teach but to others maybe they are not able to withstand the intensity of it? And therefore others will never become enlightened as you or it is also possible that for example i have a genetics that i could open a dimension which you cannot enter but i can?

As a teenager, Ramana was a normal kid. He didn't meditate and was clueless about spirituality.

Then, in a matter of minutes, he had a complete, abiding awakening out of the blue.

Now you attribute that awakening to special powers, providence, predestined karma or some such.

It is uncommon. But that doesn't mean he had special genetics.

Isn't your nature and mine the same, so to speak? Then what is "special" about you except the the degree to which you're conscious of the truth?

It takes strong determination to succeed at meditation.  I know a monk who meditated in Burma and he spent several months sitting up while he slept, and his sleep was only for a few hours a day.  He wouldn’t sleep laying down.  That is the lengths people go to make meditation work.  It isn’t easy.  Nobody does that in America, so people just see the results and say it was a natural gift.

meditation is less about determination than dedication, you got to commit; if you try to sit for 4 hours you can't at least in my case; you got to add sixty seconds a day then in 240 days you are at 4 hours, it is easy though certainly too simple for most on the planet, you got to dedicate, then meditate becomes a walk in the park, meditation is a muscle you build over time, don't run the marathon on day 1, the body can be taken to great lengths, treat it right and your result will be right and yes this is what i do

The bible was right, it's eternal damnation.

“Did you ever say Yes to a single joy? O my friends, then you said Yes to all woe as well. All things are chained and entwined together, all things are in love; if ever you wanted one moment twice, if ever you said: ‘You please me, happiness! Abide, moment!’ then you wanted everything to return!” - Friedrich Nietzsche

My porn is that Ramana as a teenager didn't even meditate. He was clueless about spirituality.

Then, boom, sudden awakening.

First, I dispute the veracity of your mythologized accounts of his life, or any sage's life.

Second, even if what you say is true, that only supports my point that he was a genetic freak. Since obviously he didn't earn it. Normal people don't just have, boom, sudden awakening.

Third, nice Fruedian slip ;)

And the only people who would even entertain the idea of doing that are the highly gifted ones.

Don't take motivation for granted. Motivation is half the battle.

Yes, I have special genetics in two ways:

1) I am extremely intelligent and intuitive. My father was also extremely intelligent. I don't know how to quantify my intelligence exactly but if you could quantify it somehow it would probably be in the top 0.0001% of humans.

2) My genetics allows me to have psychedelics awakening that are deeper than possibly anyone on this planet.

I do work hard but without the above my work would do little.

If the person is committed, no matter her genetics, she will get it done. That's the point of commitment.

Just more work will likely be required.
