Math skews towards the "drier" aspects of the intellect: logical capacity & conceptual knowledge > creativity & intuition, while e.g. psychology skews towards the more moist side. Basically left-brain vs. right-brain.

As for "good employee", IQ (decent measurement for intellect) is the best predictor for occupational success alongside conscientiousness, so again you're off.

This whole thread is now going into the direction of what is this what is that lol

I just wanna know if anyone has data on working memory and potential things to increase its performance. At my latest IQ test I got 130 for verbal IQ and ~105 for performance IQ. The main consensus was that the huge discrepancy is caused by my slightly below average working memory. If I can fix this, my life will become 100 times easier

Working memory and IQ is just one of those things that you're born with. The things you can work on other than meditation that maximizes your cognitive potential is just to optimize all forms of health: physical exercise, diet, sleep etc.

Already doing my best maximize these. I do think though, that there is some link I should explore with that whole dopamine deficiency idea. It's just a hunch, but I feel like it could be a good direction to look. Do you have any ideas about that?

Oh for sure. While the benefits of nofap are generally exaggerated, there is a baby in the bathwater there. Limiting fapping/porn to around 2-3 times a week makes a huge difference for me (compared to fapping at least every night).

@Carl-Richard mhh, I should give nofap a look. I've done it in the past, but perhaps limiting it a little more than I do now could be of some benefit

But, I'm more so talking about medication. I might look into ADD medication, as I really relate to that video I posted on the first page. I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid, but never took it seriously. Curious how those tests would look on the right medication, but then also what would I trade for it? decreased creativity, etc?

Back when I used to fap often, I was pretty ADD. Ejaculation causes a surge of prolactin (quite literally anti-dopamine) which lasts for days. But you might want to try it out if you're out of options and it's really limiting you.

@Max_V I don't know how you don't remember this, but you get better at skills by doing them. You should be focusing on memorizing more things, literally doing memory exercises and reading more books to retain it all, and however strenuous or dopamine-deprived it (focusing) may be, you'll "stretch out" the memory configuration structures you have access to. Maybe this should've been the first thing I said. If you've done it for enough time and see zero results entirely, then you should consult communities of people with the same attention difficulties and do further research there.

When I think about it, me being "pretty ADD" in my teen years was more a combination of brain fog from fapping so much and probably wrong diet, anxiety and lack of meaning (and the stress and drain of energy from all of that) than an actual ADD condition. My struggles were spiritual, emotional and physiological rather than cognitive/neurological.

   I have dealt with this in the past,  what worked for me were the following:

Doung meditation.

Doing isometric exercises. Isometrics develops mind and muscle connections, via through intense muscle contraction that engages in grwater synapses activity, 

Reading a lot, fiction and nonfiction.

Playing word games, like jumble or scramble.

Playing board games, or any game that makes you think more.

8 hours of sleep and long naps if possible.

Omega3 fish oil, or crill oil. Also eat foods with good protein and fat source, and plenty of colourful vegetables and fruits.

A variety of visualization exercises, taken from others and what I design for myself, from playing blindfold chess, to mentally listening to music.

Rhyme games, and free style rapping. Also related is word association.

Aim for a pleasent headache, and that's where you stop. Pleasent headache means your brain is improving a neural pathway to a associated word. Also patience and focusing in on incremental improvements, like in deliberate practice, and also big and compelling vision for being a wordsmith.

Have you ever had good memory, like as a child in school? Or was it always bad?

Definitely look into heavy metal detox. It's not the only factor, but one of the tell-tale signs of heavy metal toxicity is poor memory. Mercury and lead especially cause memory problems and just overall bad cognitive performance.

There are also supplements that improve memory. See my Best Supplements video for examples.
