Need accountability partner

26 posts in this topic

OK this is serious shit ..I can't keep it up with smoking insane amounts of cigarettes everyday. This is suicidal. If I keep it up I'm probably on my way to have a heart attack ,a stroke,or lungs or throat cancer .

I need accountability partner. Someone who could DAILY check in with me to ensure that I didn't smoke this day .

I hope I conveyed the depth of the problem I'm facing in my other thread ..

So if anyone is capable..please PM me and I will so much appreciate it .

Thanks

I think the user Something Funny needed an accountability partner.

You could be an accountability partner to him and in return he could be an accountability partner to you.

Both can help each other and keep each other accountable.

This guy @Something Funny

DO SOMETHING. Find something that can replace it. Create specific coping strategies for when the cravings are at their worst. Go for a run, take a bath, eat something. Passivity and boredom is the biggest enemy. Do you know how beneficial physical exercise is for your well-being? It's literally like injecting your brain with drugs.

Just change the desire into another form.  Replace it with weed, vaporizer, gaming, tv, etc. until you stop associating feelings with tobacco.

The only advise I can give you is that smoking is just a symptom, it is your coping mechanism, an escape from pain. So don't focus too much on it, focus on addressing the root cause.

No .Trust me .it's not escaping from tough emotions or anything like that. It's pure chemical addiction. I'm addicted to the taste and smell of nicotine in my mouth and nose .it has nothing to do with coping with shitty circumstances.

Dude, actually try smoking till you puke (unless that is actually impossible at your levels of tolerance). It could be the head start you need for rewiring your brain. And then DO SOMETHING. I'm skeptical that this will actually work . I can understand eating food(stuffing myself)to the point of puking .but how  does that work on smoking ?

Besides. I don't think I need to associate smoking with negative experience. I'm already feeling the negative effects .there Is a very painful sensation in my chest and heart area .it's started to take a toll  on me .

I think I need someone to check in  with me daily or a support group (thought about joining discord groups ) who can help  me .

So basically you are saying to switch my addiction  to another addiction that is less damaging?

A powerful tool would be to attend a meditation retreat.

I did one recently and my cravings for weed spontaneously dropped after the retreat.

Could be .but I don't think i need meditation to quit  but thanks for the suggestions anyways.

@Carl-Richard I don't know man.  Sounds risky to me.  Its like saying to an alcoholic that to stop using alcohol you need to get painfully drunk to the point you might have a car accident if you drive while drunk and that will be a wake up call .

@Carl-Richard OK fuck it ..let's try it out ..what do I have to lose anyways ? Unless It's not deadly right ?

I heard that Liquid nicotine and e-cigarettes are more likely to lead to nicotine poisoning compared to traditional tobacco-containing products, such as cigarettes and cigars.

So what should I do exactly?  Smoke a whole pack that contains 20 cigarettes in them in a row ?

Bonus points if you film yourself and upload it here xD

@Carl-Richard Is it not likely i will overdose on nicotine just from smoking cigarettes. The body absorbs only about one-tenth of the nicotine in a cigarette, around 1 milligram, when you smoke it. Overdosing from regular cigarettes is rare, but it's possible  .but Its gonna require me smoking suicidal amounts . I don't know .something about this whole thing doesn't feel right  .

No fucking way. Keep dreaming ;)

Man, it feels unethical to recommend doing it now when I refer to it as "nicotine poisoning" :/ What have I done?! :((((

Don't worry. Its ok .I'm a skeptical motherfucker. I don't do stuff like this before researching it enough.

@Someone here I don't think I can ethically recommend doing potentially health threatening things. I can't take back the information I gave you, but I'll delete the comments.

Yeah, the moment I felt like I had to come up with defenses for why it's not deadly, it felt very wrong. I got the idea from some random youtube comment many years ago, and it sounded reasonable, but it became different once I started considering the actual health implications of it.

@Carl-Richard I think I need a more healthy approach to quit.  The why /reason has to be strong enough that it outweighs the desire to smoke .

i should start going for runs/ exercising. Really shows how bad of shape my lungs are. because I went for a run one day and nearly died not even 5 minutes in lol.

I'm not much better lol. Did a 20 minute run for the first time in years some days ago, and it was rough, but I already felt different the day after. My breath was much smoother while lifting weights the following days. I might incorporate running 3 days a week ontop of my regular workouts.

Yep.  "quitting" is rarely a good idea.  It's like going on a diet, you won't stick to it forever.  Better to just make a few adjustments where you'll barely even notice you're eating healthier.

Yes it happens .when you spend a long time without exercising ,you build some sort of tolerance or resistance to it. Which makes it more difficult at first. But as you get used to it ..you start getting your stamina back .

OK. But I can't think of any healthy alternatives..my mind is wandering between jerking off to porn ..or fast food and tons of sugary food ..to playing video  games endlessly.  To spend too much time on this fucking forum mentally masturbating about all kinds of stuff ..

Can you suggest an activity to me ?(don't mention exercising ,I don't have the energy to do it .smoking actually zaps you of energy and motivation ).

Vaping? Mixing it with another herb? Chewable tobacco? Weed/Brownies? Kratom? Phenibut? Adderall? Alcohol?

Still contains nicotine (which is the substance I'm addicted to ).

Alcohol

As bad and unhealthy as tobacco. If not even worse . Same with weed .let alone the fact that I don't have access to these in my country. They are banned/illegal.

Nor sure what are these .gotta Google them lol.
