I was browsing my old threads and I stumbled upon a funny comment from one of the members here which is @Yarco

the subject of the thread was pascal's wager .which I can put it briefly as following :

1-if you believe in God and there is God you win(go to heaven). And if there is no God you don't lose anything.

2-if you DON'T believe in God and there is a god ..then you risk going to hell .

Here's what @Yarco said :

"  If God is really all-loving then he'll overlook all the degenerate shit I've done and let me in regardless.

If heaven is an infinity of mandatory worship, I think I'll enjoy a free life and take hell instead.

I like the atheist Matt Dillahunty's take on this -- God is the equivalent of an abusive parent who threatens to lock you in the basement and torture you if you don't behave or tell them you love them. That makes God immoral, and I'm not going to negotiate with a terrorist just to avoid eternal suffering, so fuck God.

Generally though I think that the closer you get to death, the more pascal's wager seems appealing. If you live to 80 then you can start to sincerely repent and you don't have much to lose. You got to live your life how you wanted and then you can just take it all back at the last moment. Only problem is if you die suddenly in a car accident or something before you reach that point".

I laughed so hard at this ?

I probably should've given the caveat that I was only referring to "The Christian God". Or at least, the abusive monotheistic God as understood by most Christians.

To turn your back on the one true God, that's like looking at yourself in the mirror and saying "Go fuck yourself" xD

The good news is that my first sentence in that quote still stands. You can even do that, and God will still love you.

My old Lutheran pastor told me the only sin that really can't be forgiven or overlooked is apostacy. Basically, turning your back on God or denying God. And the litmus test for that is... when you hear that and you worry if it might apply to you, then you aren't too far gone yet.

But in reality, even that is too much of a limitation for God. Christopher Hitchens and Neil deGrasse Tyson can be as edgy as they want and they're still getting into Heaven. You can spend your entire life stabbing at God, and he will still swallow you back in kicking and screaming when you die. Like Saturn or Kronos eating their own kid, only from a place of pure love.

@Yarco  yes we are obviously talking about the asshole called the Abrahamic God.

The true god is of course within ourselves.

You know, Bertrand Russell was once asked, “Suppose when you die you find yourself in heaven, standing before God and he says, ‘Why didn’t you believe in me.’?”

Russell said, “I would reply that you didn’t provide sufficient evidence.”

After all if there were a god that wanted everybody to believe in him, he could certainly do something convincing like spell out his name in stars every Thursday night. It seems that the Judaic, Christian, Islamic god wants everybody to believe in Him, not based on evidence, but based on an act of will called faith, motivated by fear of eternal torture. In other words to be an intellectual coward.
