That's like saying all language, art and technology is not ours and thus a deception we should disengage from. Why do you romanticize being a monkey?

“Did you ever say Yes to a single joy? O my friends, then you said Yes to all woe as well. All things are chained and entwined together, all things are in love; if ever you wanted one moment twice, if ever you said: ‘You please me, happiness! Because I love the peace

But no, it's not like that, we don't say English language is who I am like we do with sexuality, we see it's something apart from us

@Nilsi why do you twist what he is saying?

Typical pre/trans fallacy...

Typical intellectual laziness.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

Whatever you think you are, language, technology, knowledge, art... are all part of you and shape who you are and how you experience the world. You can make the case that sexuality is more primordial than those things, but so is your body, but you still put clothes on it without having to be weird about it.

Also I'm sure even monkeys had some kind of abstraction abilities and probably experienced all sorts of freaky fantasies and mental imagery when they felt horny.

I tried masturbating to chess actually for a good month as an experiment to see if it would make me better at chess.

But we recognize the clothes aren't us, well most of us do anyway

I don't mean in a natural way, I mean a conscious way, your monkey example I think makes my point

If you take that logic to its natural conclusion it leads you to being nothing but a hairless monkey, which surely can't be right, no?

You live in the 21st century and your environment and culture can't be separated from you. I understand where you're coming from, but that's just a naive reductionistic worldview. It's not so simple as saying, I am just this body-mind in a vacuum - no you're not.

Unless you are advocating for having sex in a state of complete no-mind (which is silly in itself), your view just doesn't hold. Fantasies and fetishization (which in itself is another can of worms), will naturally arise to some degree, so don't fool yourself here.

This is just a silly discussion. Don't be so square in your sexuality and everything is well.

I'd say you can take it even further and say I'm not even a hairless monkey.

I don't mean to not interact with the world, I would say I mean the opposite, fantasy is not interacting with the world it's the opposite, you're not actually experiencing it

How so? You are a homo sapiens (literally the wise/thinking man).

I suspect you have a rather naive materialistic worldview. You don't seem to appreciate how entangled your mind and the world are.

Who gave us the name "wise thinking man"?, there may have been some bias

Feeling is a function of the mind.

Also when you feel joy or anger or whatever, it is always entangled with some mental imagery and abstraction.

Yes but "thinking" is limited by language and imagery/sounds/tastes and further limited by your proficiency in language and what you have seen/heard, feeling has no limits

This discussion isn't going anywhere.

Same with raw sensations. It's not like they happen outside of your mind.

They're not strictly entangled with mental imagery or abstraction, is my point, you can just feel

Part of your mind you can't access with language(understanding)

I don't want to turn this into a discussion about metaphysics, so let's just leave it at that.
