How To Approach Self- Development From A Perspectival Understanding

1 post in this topic

"Comparison is the thief of all joy"- Theodore Roosevelt

You are born a certain height, a certain weight, in a certain family, in a certain generation, in a certain culture. You met specific people and have had specific experiences all of which has shaped you. So why in the hell are you comparing yourself to others? Life is all about perspective. Its all how you look at it.

I'll give an example. Mugsy Bogues is the shortest NBA Basketball player in NBA History. If he spent his time comparing himself to other players he would have never made it to the pros. Look at the odds to understand how hard it is to make the NBA and understand what the man accomplished is basically the impossible. http://www.thesportdigest.com/archive/article/what-are-odds-becoming-professional-athlete#:~:text=03% chance of a pro, players will eventually be drafted.

Here is a video I found a couple years ago that had the same insight I had. If you compare Mugsy to Shaq Mugsy exceeded his potential where Shaq did not even reach his full potential. Yet Shaq is richer, and more famous than Mugsy. One way of looking at life is that your success is not based on money, but on how far you were able to push and develop yourself. You can judge success on money, but you could also judge it based on growth. It is what it is. Life is just a perspective, that is all it will ever be for you and every human before and after.

So now that we got that out of the way, understand that comparing yourself to anyone is basically the definition of not just insanity. Its a lie. On the relative level your path, your gifts, and perspective are so unique you really can't compare. You can find similarities but there is no comparison.

Its like comparing a corvette https://www.caranddriver.com/features/g22035705/fully-vetted-the-visual-history-of-the-chevrolet-corvette/

To a Honda Accord https://www.manchesterhonda.com/the-honda-accord-visual-history-since-its-birth/

Each have their perks and limitations and excel in their own rights. So find your high points, and work on your low points but accept where you are RIGHT NOW.

Some questions to consider so you can figure out your path.

1. What would I do for free everyday? Focus on that.

2. What are some things I want to improve upon? Work on that as well.

3. How do I appreciate where I am at as I continue my journey?

4. Lastly what is my ultimate goal in life? Examples: I live life to be happy, I live life to build a legacy, I live life to share love and inspiration, I live life to serve others, I live life to have as much fun and experience as I can, I live life to learn as much as I can, I live life in search of ultimate truth, I live life to enjoy the present, I live life to teach and train others, I live life to become the best in the world at something, etc. etc.

Notice that all those above ultimate goals....all of them are valid life goals and you could think of more examples if you want. You are the author of your life, the actor, the script writer, the stage hand, the sound track composer, and the director. So write a story that you can enjoy.

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.
