Evolutionary advantage

12 posts in this topic

Im kinda stage green. And stage green always loves to complain. They don't want to work too hard for stuff.

But there's both an  evolutionary advantage and disadvantage to this entitlement. The disadvantage is that you never have to work hard, you turn into a soft lollipop who can't fight or survive through adverse situations because you never learned a damn skill.

The advantage being that we create a society of fewer expectations, this means less stress, less stress means better heart health and better survival.

From an evolutionary perspective better heart health is great for long term survival of the species.

Be careful being too demanding in relationships. Relate to the person at the level they are at, not where you need them to be.

If such a society would even survive for one day, it would be gamed by people acting out of self-interest and will to power, and those people would enslave the rest of society and procreate. What you are describing is not an evolutionary stable strategy.

“Did you ever say Yes to a single joy? O my friends, then you said Yes to all woe as well. All things are chained and entwined together, all things are in love; if ever you wanted one moment twice, if ever you said: ‘You please me, happiness! Abide, moment!’ then you wanted everything to return!” - Friedrich Nietzsche

If they're stage green, why would they enslave others? That doesn't make any sense. If anything, they would always aim for the emancipation of slaves. Slavery would be the last thing on their minds.

You realize that to get to green you first have to move through all other stages? What if some punk ass 18 year old doesn't give a shit about your green values and starts seeking power? You are thinking about this way too naively.

@Nilsi I was talking about the whole society being green, not just a portion. If a punk gets power, he can be thrown out in jail by green people. There's something called democracy and there is no jungle law.

No 18 year old ever gets to power.

Well that's all good in theory, but it's just not how the world works, so I don't see the point in this discussion.

Hard times creates strong men, strong men create weak times, weak times create weak men, weak men create Hard Times, onwards into infinity.

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.

That's why we need rites of passage and rituals like the eleusinian mysteries as an integral part of society, so we can have a healthy flourishing society while not taking it for granted and letting it go down the drains.

Nope. We're killing the species with this slippery slope of mental and physical fragility. When you stop putting stress on a muscle, it dies. An organism that doesn't move, dies. A heart that doesn't pump blood, dies. Since society has become so frictionless, we have to provide alternative sources for building resilience. Go to the gym regularly, don't eat cake, be social, take on responsibilities, set ambitious goals, build a skillset, apply yourself.

Intrinsic joy is revealed in the marriage of meaning and being.

Do you know how many people die everyday due to stress on their hearts, because they have to do 3 jobs to pay bills, take on a lot of stress and work very hard.

My dad was a blue collar worker who pumped his heart to death. I'm not saying that people should turn into couch potatoes. But the normal human existence involves countless hours of work and extreme levels of stress. Most people around the globe are stressed and overworked. They can't escape this rigmarole because - bills and survival and kids. My dad died prematurely because his body couldn't cope with all the hard work and stress.

You say a ton of stuff. But guess what. You're healthy, young, going to gym and then sitting comfortably in your chair and typing here. Go live the strenuous life of those who have to struggle day in day out because they don't have your luxury and you'll know that what I say is not bullshit.

1. I used to go to college and take full classes and I was on the track team. I worked out morning, afternoon and night 6 days a week. I maintained this for 2 years. When I graduated every job I worked I busted my behind off. My last job before the pandemic I was working 80 hours a week and I wasn't even getting paid for those extra hours and had to work a weekend without pay once a month because of some silly law in criminal justice.

2. My current job is the easiest, most high paying job I have worked and its work from home and guess what? Its making me weaker. Sure it gives me more time to think, and contemplate and save money (gas prices are ridiculous) but I realize if I continue doing this to long I will become lazy.

3. You only become smart and wise through application, you only become mentally tough by going through hard times, you only become more loving by learning to forgive trauma/pain inflicted upon you, and you only become physically strong through physical exertion (stress) on the body.

This is non-negotiable and is the current design of this universe. Maybe through technology we will find a way around this, but as it stands right now its the current state of things.

The only reason your generation is lazy, is because the strong before you elevated the living conditions to what they are now. The key to life is balance, don't be too slothful, don't be too industrious. Jack is a dull boy if he plays too much and works too much, but if he is in balance he is at peace.

His point was, that thats not advantegous to create a fragile society, the goal should be to create a society where people are tough and can handle stress and events that are not expected.

Now, how we can achieve that is a different question, but generally speaking, if you don't have much to do and you don't get exposed to a certain level of stress periodically, then you become more fragile and paradoxically it will make your life more miserable and you become more weaker.
