Haha. Reactionary tends to be a term used to denigrate right-wing thinkers who staunchly oppose all ideas of progress. Seems you have something else in mind!

Reaction videos and things like that seem to be a great example of postmodern hyperreality, in which you see the progressive loss of all contact between the signifier and that which it is supposed to signify. Online media was already a big step in this direction because all content is mediated through this media itself. When watching a reaction video, it is even worse. You are watching somebody else watch something, and that something itself is generally something not real, adding yet another degree of removal from reality!

Oh mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head… And as I climb into an empty bed, oh well, enough said… I know it’s over, still I cling, I don’t know where else I can go… Over…

Haha okay, I heard Leo describe reaction youtubers as Youtube reactionaries, and leeches, so I thought that was the normal way of naming them, other than con artists and indecisive creators.

I see the spiritual, metaphysical and epistemic ramifications if the majority of youtube content creators just react to other vids, but practically speaking, you're react video steals potential viewers and incentivizes watching the react vid over the original, plus stealing their limited space in the video website, as there's only so many views available and the A.I being misfed information to encourage react vids over original vids.

Osho talks about this in his passage on Ashtavakra gita

he says there are three types of people in the world:

those who he part of “the congregation” (performers - creators - actors- dancers etc) and they are most far gone because they need validation from others to give a sense of self worth, they are lost in the game.

then there are the “spectators” who simply watch and do not actually DO, watching tv, shows, movies, sports, plays, YouTube, and they not as bad as the first category but still lost in inaction (I think most of us on the forum would fall into this category, including these reactionaries) they cheer on the congregation because it is exciting and it takes them away from reality and life, it’s an escape.

and then there are the “observers” those who do not become part of or cheer on the congregation they simply are and do as they are, they don’t need an escape and can realize their being and not identify with the body or some outside excitement or please someone or something,

it’s really quite fascinating I recommend reading his English passages on the Ashtavakra gita

Osho is a fascinating Guru, apparently he owned 150,00 books and lead the Rajneesh compound, although he delegated that responsibility over to Sheela who's the second in command. I'll the Ashtavakra Gita a check later.

So, the spectrum you introduced is validation seeking : inaction? Those that are extroverts and always taking action, and those that are paralyzed by many contents? And the third type of person is an observer, balancing both action taking and learning theory rather than passively consuming content unconsciously?

What I like about a reactionary YouTuber, who just makes reactions out of other content creators, and the specific example of this is Asmongold, is that not only does it show how YouTube reaction makers leech off of other content creators while stealing potential viewers and other potential subscribers of that original content creator, there's also another vicious trap that follows closely with this dynamic, and that is sunk cost fallacy. What is sunk cost fallacy? Well, basically it's like putting all your eggs in one basket, and now that there's too many eggs you can't afford both the cost and emotional labor to undo that investment, so you have to commit and grid lock yourself into that career or job selection, because your monetary salary of that career is paying your bills and other things that physically and psychologically fulfill your needs. Imagine Asmongold, not only having to process his net negative contribution of stealing other people's potential consumers, but also having to realize that he is too sunk into the cost of his career and now has to deal with the emotional turmoil. Changing careers at this point for him is the most bitter pill to swallow, he isn't going to make that decision to change anytime soon. This is a really good lesson on the sunk cost fallacy.

I feel like there are not enough reaction videos. People are afraid to say their opinion. With many opinions there are more perspectives. With more perspectives it is easier to figure out a topic.

Everybody learns witha different lens the more lenses there are the more people can learn easier.

I'm really appreciating Asmongold here. Normally when I see the words "reaction video" on youtube, it's just a dumb video of some idiot making faces at another dumb video. But sometimes some people actually have something to say, like this guy here.

To me the value here isn't so much in the fact that it's a reaction video, but in the fact that there is a sincere and insightful discourse going on about topics that are actually worth discussing. That puts it in the same category as actualized.org, regardless of the format which is incidental (and aside from whatever someone may think about "level of consciousness", which btw. I'd say this guy is doing a lot better than most).

For what it's worth.

Cheers

That's about right, I'd say he contributes 20% good value, but had to do 80% bs to get tk where he is, that bow his opinions are a bit more valuable.

I'm just pointing out that there's inly so mucb room left ib the markets, that people just reacting to videos not of their making, but someone elses, tajes up space, and steals potential customers of those smaller content creators, aka leeches.

Sure that's valid to a degree, learning from other perspectives and voicing well thought out opinions. I guess you'll have to be a content creator, and experience some other reactionary youtuber stealing your content and taking your potential subscribers to appreciate the problem these types are making on a bigger scale.

Leaning more towards people like Asmongold or Hasanabi, but smaller react creators are also guilty of this as well.

I'd say this is an example of a good react YouTube channel:

https://youtu.be/D1AB1lS6Yns

At least he's really giving a genuine reactions to the videos he's playing. His heart and soul seems to be in the right placexD

However, even if he was leading his own life purpose, those scares have accumulated over the years, and the psychosomatic stress has caught up and given him a neck injury, so he has to adapt.

@Danioover9000 I kind of butchered oshos explanation but basically the gist of it was that actors and players on a stage are for show and seek validation they have something to prove, and spectators cant do it themselves so instead they watch. And then the third category doesn’t seek validation and does what is needed and doesn’t become tied up in the show and lives life fully and intensely, reacting to life is not a fulfilling life imo, but yet here we are and I’m guilty of it sometimes too, maybe more than not since sports was a big part of my life growing up.

No worries, people butcher other people's explanations because most if that is inferred ?

There is nothing new under the sun, everything you have ever seen is reacting to itself. There is no originality. Originality is just an illusion. Progress just builds off previous ideas and concepts. We improve by learning from the past. That is what evolution is, that is what creativity is. Breaking and creating new patterns off the components that already exist.

All questions point to what is not, by contrasting what currently is. You could not find what is not, without first observing what is. So yeah...this video...is hilarious. You cannot steal something that needs something else to exist. Even thievery is just mere illusion.

You are a selfless LACK OF APPEARANCE, that CONSTRUCTS AN APPEARANCE. But that appearance can disappear and reappear and we call that change, we call it time, we call it space, we call it distance, we call distinctness, we call it other. But notice...this appearance, is a SELF. A SELF IS A CONSTRUCTION!!!

So if you want to know the TRUTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION. Just deconstruct the construction!!!! No point in playing these mind games!!! No point in creating needless complexity!!! The truth of what you are is a BLANK!!!! A selfless awareness....then that means there is NO OTHER, and everything you have ever perceived was JUST AN APPEARANCE, A MIRAGE, AN ILLUSION, IMAGINARY.

Everything that appears....appears out of a lack of appearance/void/no-thing, non-sense (can't be sensed because there is nothing to sense). That is what you are, and what arises...is made of that. So nonexistence, arises/creates existence. And thus everything is solved.

No, surely there's some originality and uniqueness? I get it with video content and other art forms, but what about your body? Yes, there's an evolutionary history there where you've sourced your genes and materials and so, but right now you have a uniqueness not matched by 8,000,000,000 or so humans on earth, or other life forms like animals, insects, reptiles, sea life. You are unique enough to not be a cloud, or an alien. An A.I will still have problems copying you completely.

For, example, I'm not a musical genius, more a visual minded person, but a music came to me in one of my dreams, and the instrumentals were not of this earth, it's really weird arrangement of sounds that's also pleasing to hear, but I haven't found any musical patterns yet to match up with those mental sounds. Then my mind didn't like this state of unknown, so off it went designing things to try and make sense of those sounds. Very interesting to me, seems like a unique pattern to me.

As a career choice, it's around the bottom of the list of careers I'd specialize in, as I don't see myself just reacting to other content creators. It's almost as bad as getting cuckolded to me, why you gotta do this to yourself when you can provide that content, of your own making? Not even online debating while playing online video games is appealing to me.

Originality implies separateness. There is no separation. So it doesn't exist. If I inspire something within you, if I influence you, which sparks something within which allows you to create something new. How is it original? If you look at what exists and it sparks you to create the opposite, how is that original? Its not. It never was.

My perspective is built off of other perspectives. All creation is just an expression of what is and isn't. And all that exists, can only exist because the opposite doesn't exist. If everything was allowed to exist at once, we couldn't appreciate it. We confuse appreciation with originality.

Sure I have a unique perspective...but it was built, off other perspectives and is influenced and connected by so many factors. If I bake a cake, I take components, put it through certain factors and it becomes a cake. Is it unique? No it was built off the components and the factors so it is connected. You can say it is just a different expression of what already is.

But it has never been original, it is connected.

You could take this further, everything comes from God. So everything is an expression of God. So if it all comes from the same source? How can it be original? It is all made from the same source.
