Nofap hack for overcoming porn addiction

28 posts in this topic

I know a lot of you guys here struggle with porn and masturbation addiction and it's affecting your life negatively (not everyone, so if you have no problems with porn then this thread is not for you ).

Here is a simple hack that will help you overcome porn addiction :

Reward yourself . Say if you manage to do nofap today you will allow yourself to eat ice cream..if you manage to do nofap for a  week you will allow yourself to play video games ..etc you get the idea. Very simple but very effective

Of course you can reward yourself for abstaining from porn with anything except porn itself !I know some of you are just funny.

What you have to understand is that this is a serious addiction . To overcome it you can't depend on logic alone ...otherwise we would all do nofap effortlessly , But the human brain is FUCKING stupid .when you present to it an endless pool of naked women doing all kinds of sexual acts just a click away from your finger tips ..your brain gets fucked in his ass and starts to operate illogically.so we have to trick our brains by these kinds of hacks to make nofap actually rewarding by doing something pleasurable (besides porn) after your nofap achievement to make your brain associates it with pleasure ..so now you are making yourself addicted to nofap .
the brain is 95% subconscious and 5 %conscious ..so when the urge hits ..the brain doesn't give a flying shit about our long term well being ..it only wants short term pleasure..this is why after you relapse you are like"fuck what am I fucking stupid or What?!" Yes your brain is stupid ..just a dog wants pleasure and run away from pain..so you gotta trick it and associate nofap with short term pleasure to motivate it to succeed .

They've done an experiment on rats ..they conduct their bodies with heroin which get injected to them if they click on a button...beileve it or not the rats keep pushing the button and get heroin surges until they died in few minutes. Now ..the primitive parts of our brain is like that..it doesn't mind if you kill yourself by overdosing on porn .it just wants dopamine.
This is why you need to trick your stupid brain in order to overcome any addiction.

Any questions. Feel free to ask .

I disagree

B implies A but B doesn't imply A

@Someone here versus @Arcangelo , someone here says stop beating the meat too much with sugary weed, while the other advocates for more sugar abuse cane barbecues, while adding on volcanic flavoured flakes to this triggering thread. Who won this feud? Who's next in the que? Who knows, I know, cuz I'm well fed with lyrics, I won, cuz my bar's be cruelest than the sizzling grill of this ripe sweet teen beef between the two of you, all the while missing the balance by a mile, that's what you get for denial of the importance of balancing the wildlife between thy eyes, short sighted and blinded by binary thinking tinting the windows of your soul so much so you can't behold the beauty in your own eyes showing the holiness that a holistic view can give you.

I say reward yourself with jerking off if you can abstain from porn. I know some feel drained/demotivated after wanking it, but I've beaten the hell out of my willy multiple times a day and still run 5 miles afterwards, been productive, etc.

After you completely phase porn out of your daily routine then you can start gradually phasing out masturbation if you feel it is necessary (3 times a week --> 1 time a week --> 0 times a week).

Is it really that big of a difference to fap with or without porn ? For me they trigger each other and lead to each other . I can't even masturbate without watching porn.so I would say cut them both from your lifestyle and reward yourself with anything else .like you can come up with a list of a hundred things to replace porn and masturbation. From food to video games to music to going outside etc

Infinite.

Fapping to porn can cause ED, good reason to stop if you ask me.

Masturbation and porn are inseparable . Who on earth watches porn but doesn't masturbate or vice versa ?

No at least that's how it is for me . I don't watch porn without masturbating. And I don't masturbate without watching porn .

Maybe it's different for other guys .I dunno really.

You are "rewarding" yourself for "abstaining" from something. It's okay to do it sporadically though, i.e. when the urges are very strong and you overcome them (cause this is a genuine success and should be celebrated). working on the basis of reward is something to outgrow ASAP as well.

but with abstaining the problem also is that it's not actively doing anything, it's just refraining from an activity. so the only critical points where the abstaining is "active", is when the urges are somewhere around your strength level. otherwise there is no friction and thus no progressive overload

I feel what you are saying here. But simple concrete rewards so the instant gratification monkey in our brains is kept under watch is important. seems good. Plus withdrawl feels like shit so any help to boost well being and happinesd is good. I mean people say life without porn .the brain is terrible at such general terms. I mean if you have a girlfriend and without pmo you can watch her in the eye and not feel guilt that is very specific and concrete. I think we also need short term boosts of energy along the road.

The TYPICAL MISTAKE when trying to solve porn addiction, is to think that the porn is the problem.

The pornography is just what you chose as a symbolic fulfillment of an unconscious unmet need.

You can focus on porn all you want, trying to cut it out, trying to stop masturbating, rewarding yourself, blocking websites, nofap, all that bullshit is just a waste of precious energy.

You can quit, but then you still have the root of your addiction. Just that now it's without an outlet.

Something is lacking, something is empty inside yourself.

An emptiness that you tried to fill with porn.

Now needs to be filled with sugar?

Or an addiction to working out?

Or eating extremely healthy and having to talk about it incessantly on forums?

It's all the same.

Don't think you're being healthy if you are still addicted to something, trying to fill a deep lack of something.

Your porn (or whatever) addiction is a beautiful, perfect window into what needs to be healed inside you.

A portal for true healing, IF you have the wisdom to use it as such.

Want proof? Or a hint of where to start?

Start when you feel the urge.

Then meditate and introspect on what you are actually feeling.

What is the feeling you have to quench?

Then do some shamanic breathing, with the intention of finding out more about what you need and where this sense of lack is coming from.

If you have the balls and the follow-through to do THAT, NOW you have an entry point to some real change.

If you get there, now the next step to healing will be revealed to you, because feelings will surface that you had no idea were bothering you.

Then, all you have to do to really solve it, is to CHOOSE to rather feel those feelings, than do your destructive habit.

Messing around with behaviour change and habits/rewards is child's play.

Once you've made that decision, to rather feel that which you've uncovered, than do the habit, now you've taken the power back. You don't have to run away anymore, which means you don't need porn anymore, OR video games, OR attention, OR anything else which you could get addicted to next.

There is truth to this perspective.  However this thread should not be an advanced guide to solve porn addiction .or any addiction really.  Maybe most people need to visit therapists .but this is just a simple hack that can ease the way .

Everyone ie seeking pleasure and fulfilment in one way or another.  Even  the religious ascetics never just abstained from the pleasures of the flesh they run towards the pleasures of the spirit. Masochists while inflicting pain search for pleasure. What pleasure is can be discussed, but we are built to seek it. I mean porn is only possible because of built in sexual pleasure centers. Ancient cultures covered women head to toe not because of some "oppresion" but because they knew the impact of seeing skin on the sexual centers. And when I say ancient I mean before WWII. . That is why I think women should cover themselves even today, not because of religious god will kill stuff, but out of care for men and their mental and physical health.
