Pete Davidson has BPD. I had no idea. I could relate so much to what he said. It kinda hit home.

A good metaphorical example of how BPD feels like.

I'm usually screaming inside like.... LEAVE ME ALONE, LEAVE ME ALONE.

The closer someone comes to me the more I feel like screaming "leave me alone."

I'm resistant to therapy because I don't like opening up to therapists.

So I'm figuring out my own ways.

So far 4 things have helped

  1. Music.... Big time
  2. Sexual therapy..... For sexual compulsivity
  3. Caffeine... People with bpd should try caffeine. The emotions are clearer on caffeine and more fluid/lucid.
  4. Next week - will try LSD

You could try DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) which may utilise a skills-based approach. This is an oversimplification, but essentially you learn Mindfulness techniques, skills around Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

You do not necessarily have to 'open up' to a therapist if you are not comfortable doing so.

The research has suggested DBT can be helpful for individuals with BPD.

Also Dr Marsha Linehan, the person who developed DBT, has BPD herself too.

But that's probably exactly what you need.

You're avoiding facing the trauma which is the root cause of your BPD. It's not gonna be easy to face, but without facing it you will never really heal.

If you have BPD it's gonna be very hard for you to heal yourself by yourself.

That's great! Good that you want to do the work.

And I would say that you can still go to therapy. You don't have to open up. It is your choice only.

It also depends greatly on how your connection to the therapist is. For example, in my last session I opened up about a topic which was concerning me for long time. The sessions before I felt it wasn't the right time to introduce that topic, and then it came up organically. The timing felt right and I felt welcome & accepted. And it was still hard to talk about it. Some things can only be talked about after a certain time. Like making a soup, some spices are put inside only after certain times, and so it is the same for therapy.

Wishing you well Preety.

BPD symptoms can go into remission with medicine + DBT therapy

Dr Ramani is a boss!

I'd personally look into IFS and DBT for BPD. Also, I get the symptoms of BPD can often make seeing a therapist a very difficult thing. I think seeing a BPD specialist would be a must. From what I've heard, some otherwise useful therapies, can actually be detrimental when it comes to BPD.
