What's your opinion on witches from the past?

3 posts in this topic

We've all heard the stories from the past, where people would kill someone for witchcraft or magic.

What's your idea on this?

Do you think these "witches" got killed for doing things with consciousness that people couldn't understand? Or maybe they tried to limit them so our consciousness wouldn't get rised by these people so they would stay in power?

A real witch would not be overwhelmed by random villagers, sadly it was just regular innocent people being murdered amongst hysteria... Got a cold the day after you argued with a neighbour? WITCH! BURN HER!

Mostly people that accidentally dosed themselves with LSD by eating grain tainted with ergot

Some were killed for heresy. By today's standards you'd probably think it was pretty dumb to kill someone for some of the beliefs, sometimes just minor different interpretations of Christianity. In the way that other competing Gods at the time were "demonized", people were just declared witches to write them off.

Probably some legit pagans/druids/heathens. Just a belief system, no magic powers.

Far less than 1% with supernatural powers or able to curse someone, stereotypical idea of what a witch is.

I would be surprised if any of them would be what we consider high consciousness today, or spiritually enlightened. We're talking about a difference between Lutheranism vs Catholicism getting you labeled a heretic.
