Life Purpose: Becoming a successful freelancer.

12 posts in this topic

A journey, ups and downs, of my first, real, business.

I’m tired. Of going to a job that doesn’t fulfil me, if spending the best hours of my day, doing mindless, repetitive work, of being reduced to a cog in a machine. I’m tired of looking to an external source for meaning and impact.

I work in a kitchen, cooking food that hurts peoples bodies, cooking food is not meaningful to me, this is not how I want to live my life. I’m tired of being in a stressful environment, where my co workers hate their job, but can’t admit it, where gossip is normal, and negativity runs rampant.

so I strike out alone.

To become a successful freelance music producer.

Why? I’ll find a way

Why? Authenticity, Music, Wisdom. To be free.

Here are the fears I face.

1. Fear of being Judged, ridiculed, called weird, made fun of.

2. Fear of the responsibility it will take to succeed.

3. Fear that I will mess it up somehow.

4. Fear that I am not creative enough to find a way to serve people in a way that adds TONS of value.

5. Fear of succeeding, becoming financially free, helping people, and "making it."

6. Fear that I have chosen the wrong thing.

7. Fear that will never succeed.

8. Fear that no one will want my services.

9. Fear that  I am not good enough, my strengths aren't strong enough.

10. Fear that I will not strategize enough, do enough research.

11. Fear that I will be too impractical.

12. fear that I will get into paralysis by analysis.

13. Fear that I will quit when it gets to hard.

Re-watching Leos Video "The Psychology of Small Business Success." for the 4th time, and here are the questions generated from it.

What business ideas do I have?

  1. Be a life coach
  2. Freelance music producer
  3. Freelance melody writer
  4. Authenticity coach

Who will buy my melody services?

  1. Musicians who don’t know how to write powerful melodies.
  2. Musicians without the time to sit and think of a melody.
  3. Musicians that are not connected to music like I am.
  4. Musicians that want to understand how to write melody
  5. New musicians who don’t know how to produce their own music.

Who will want this?

  1. Spiritually connected musicians that value authenticity, beauty, and Love.
  2. Musicians that want powerful, authentic melodies for their songs.
  3. Musicians that want something different then the vanilla mainstream melodies and songs.

What mundane details am I missing?

How much money I need to quit my day job?

How freelancers get clients on fiverr?

How to get clients?

How to get people to see my gig?

How to turn views into clients?

How to earn money with fiverr?

How does sales and marketing play into my business?

  1. Sales: I need to sell my gig to them before they even talk with me. The video, the examples, the description, hell, the title!
  2. Marketing: I don’t know!

How do I get eyeballs?

What is my strategy for getting eyeballs for my product?

What is my strategy for getting people to pay me for my product?

How will I get noticed?

What is my practical strategy to convert eyeballs to cash?

How am I going to generate cashflow?

What tools do I have to help me create a strategy that will work?

What practical problems do I face?

What unique angle in my niche?

What is my leverage point?

What is going to be the thing that I am using to generate power?

Personality?

Maybe my unique point of view?

How do I strategize my style?

What is my style?

What makes my style different?

What is the actual mechanism through which cashflow is generated?

How is this business a research project?

How can I focus deeper on my business?

How can I commit more?

How do I make this a life or death situation?

How do I make this serious?

If I don’t do this, all of my dreams are going down the toilet, I will never be free.

How do I make it so that I know there is no option to fail?

How do I make a full commitment?

How do I deal with the emotions of this process?

What exactly do I need to research to be successful?

What possibilities are there for me?

What things have practical value to people?

What problems do people have in their lives?

Use that as a seed.

How can I prove one marketing avenue?

How do I prove my cashflow?

Can I generate a sale?

How can I develop self governance?

Well.. Life  is full of difficult truths, and so is business.

Here is what I face.

1. No one cares about my product.

2. Marketing and sales is way more important than even I assumed.

3. One idea isn't enough, I need ten twenty, thirty, 100 ideas before I find one that works in the market place.

4. it may be years before I am financially free.

Its all good though! I feel so energized and excited, I am finally DOING SOMETHING!! not just theorizing and acting like I am making progress.

So far, I have had one client message me, progress! This idea of freelancing has lead to an even better, more innovative, creative, wholly scary possibility.

Starting an actual business! not just freelancing, but creating a business. Updates to come :)
