How do I get started with Eckhart's teachings when I know Leo's?

6 posts in this topic

For context, I've read the Power of Now (basically having no notes), and am new to spirituality. Also new to Leo's teachings, no psychedelics taken. Basically no progress made in the spiritual realm (besides starting a habit of do nothing meditation)

What I'm aiming for is to shift my identity from ego to Being, but Leo says that our true identity is God/Universe/etc, while Eckhart says it's Being.

I'm really confused with this distinction. I don't know what my true identity is.

How do I rectify this issue? How do I pursue Eckhart's teachings in line with Leo's?

Being, the Now, God, Eckhart uses all these words pretty synonymously in The Power of Now. He just doesn't use the word God often because he thinks it's a misunderstood word that comes with a lot of preconceptions and scares off the general public.

Same thing.

God is just a deeper insight into the nature of what Being is.

It's easier to realize Being than it is to realize God.

Realizing Being is like a fish in water realizing water. Realizing God is like a fish in water realizing the whole ocean as one giant superorganism created by its own mind.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Thanks for the help, Leo. Really appreciate it

Also, do you think Eckhart is God-Realized?

@Magnanimous

Actually the deepness of your teacher doesn't matter, if they are giving you practical tips to "increase your consciousness". Also insights from others should actually be yours that are triggered by them, not theirs that you blindly believe on. Use your own experience as checking method and that which you don't see you shouldn't think you see, because that would be just more assumptions to present moment not less.

Who told you that "others" are real?

I don't find either word particularly helpful at this point - 'God', 'Being', the words have lost all meaning for me at this point. I feel like it would be more helpful to meditate on the question, 'Who am I?', rather than try to slap a label on it.

To truly know your true nature is to consciously be your true nature. 'Do nothing' meditation is an excellent practice in that regard, I'd say, keep that up and see how you go on. :)
