Suriya Kriya Yoga

5 posts in this topic

Has anyone done Suriya Kriya from Sadhguru or any other Suriya Kriya? I'm going to get an initiation in a few weeks and I'm curious about what to expect.

I found a woman on the Sadhguru website directory so I'm hoping she's legit.

@Medhansh Cool man.

Did you feel some change or benefit almost immediately from doing it?

I think if I knew I was getting benefit it would be easier to stick to the practice, but if it was unclear then I may struggle to be consistent.

@Medhansh Just got initiated bro. It was really good, it exceeded my expectations.

I feel a strong motivation and desire to continue the practice, and learn some other practices like combining shambhavi with suriya kriya.

That's cool, good for you!  Did you do it online or in-person?  I've read books on Kriya and have done the exercises at home, but it's much easier to practice with a guide.  Are they good at pointing out how to improve your technique?

I did it in person. It was 6 hours total in one day, 3 in the morning then 3 in the afternoon.

She went over each of the 21 postures and showed us the demonstration videos and tried to correct our form as we did it.

I think any certified Isha hatha yiga teachee will be great, but my facilitator was amazing. She said you could come back to her house and go over it again if you didn't fully get it with no extra charge, and she spoke to me for 45 mins about staying at the ashram in Tennessee.

I'd say 100% get initiated by a quality lineage like Isha. I was always skeptical about why people wouldn't just show me the practice, but there is something valuable about getting the practice directly in a formal way.

There was only 1 certified isha hatha teachee yiga in Vancouver, hopefully there is 1 near you.

Also, if you're looking to get into kriya yoga, I think you should sign up for the shambhavi mudra initiation in September. They are doing it online, you just need to watch 7, 90 minute, videos before the September initiation.

I am blown away by Sadhguru and suriya kriya after this, and I heard the Shambhavi mudra kriya is even more profound than just the yoga.

@Salvijus is the one who first told me about good it is, so he can probably answer better than I can.
