Leading The Body The Mind Will Follow And Vise Versa

4 posts in this topic

I've come to realize how little I understand about this concept and why it is that leading the body the mind will follow and leading the mind the body will follow --> If you can't control your mind, control your body, if you can't control your body control your mind.

My question is what exactly is going on here? Why is this the case and how does it work? and also what are the practical steps I can take to developing this?

From what I currently understand it's about alignment. I hear things such as "honoring your highest wisdom and doing the things you want to and know you should be doing."

it seems as though the mind has it's own agenda and the body has it's own agenda. Why can't I simply do the things I know I should be doing? why can't I just flip that switch? Why is it so hard for that transition to occur? It could be limiting beliefs, it could be fears, but I just want to know what's that's ultimately grounded in, is it identity? is it fear? is it not knowing? Is it unconsciousness? Is it distractions? what is the root?

so in trying to understand all this I realize I'm missing something. hopefully someone here can help me find what this is rooted in. Any takers? I'm completely open here.

It just seems to work this way, doesn't it? @Truth If you take care of your body via e.g a healthy diet or exercising, you do raise your consciousness and the mind may start pulling you towards other opportunities to  grow in different areas of your life. If you take care of your mind, and e.g start to experience emotions fully, quit stimulants, or start a meditation habit, etc. the awareness will shift to your body automatically, as the body is the main medium by which you experience these things in the "physical" world, experience life. Actually, whatever you focus on at a particular moment (whether it's exercising, diet or deep inner work), I think that your mind will always get influenced first. So basically whatever you do, you either grow your mind (expand consciousness) or you decrease its capabilities.

@Alicja_ I agree, it seems as though there is a type of separation of mind and body and there's a state of equilibrium that has to be developed. It's interesting how my mind can know exactly what It wants, but on the other hand my body literally doesn't know how to achieve it or it just flat out resists doing it (distractions, fears, limiting beliefs)

and this creates the misalignment. So I guess my strategy is to just slowly teach my body how to just start doing it. I have to know it in my head just as equally I have to know it in my body. The mind is on board and understands. now it's time to help the body be on board and understand. And I believe this is done through leading with the body so it can learn and understand just as deeply as the mind understands.

@Truth The mind and body are not separate. People discuss them this way out of convention. For example, you dicuss limiting beliefs as a problem of the body. Most people would call that the mind. But perhaps it is both. It is arguable that, if you get scared by the same thing a million times, you are wired to be scared of that thing.

Reasons we don't change are in both. The ego does not wish to change. The body has been conditioned by habits.

Awareness of what's happening in mind/body is key to change. Pay attention more and more. Over time, what the hold up is becomes clearer.
