Do most people perceive progressives as corrupt?

@Hardkill Because most people vote based on rhetoric, rather than policies/ political actions.

Many don't vote because they don't believe it will make a difference, as both sides are corrupt.
Others vote in terms of the slight degrees in difference, believing that the other side must constantly be playing defense lest we slip into chaos.
The seemingly more astute will vote third party, in their vain effort to change, yet unknowingly they are just voting for a fourth party. Still this remains the best choice within the confines of the system we are speaking about. It isn't the best choice overall.

Most people simply have no clue about public policy or governance. They don't know and don't care. They are bated into political activism by the culture wars, ideology, and tribalism. If you ask most people who the Vice President is, they won't be able to tell you. It's just a fundamental level of ignorance and disinterest. These are the people who swing elections. They are profoundly uninformed and easily manipulated into voting in foolish ways. All of politics revolves around manipulating these people.

It's a sad irony that most people say that they are tired of the status quo even though they keep voting for either establishment Republicans (who are obviously all about maintaining the status quo) right-wing populists (who ultimately become radical believers in maintaining the status quo of their society at all costs) or establishment Democrats (who are still much more for the status quo than progressives are).

Are swing voters actually more uninformed than the MAGA zombies or uneducated Republican voters?

People cannot make subtle distinctions, neither do they closely study policy proposals. If they did either of that then they would have already been a progressive for the betterment of society.

Plus, the progressives tend to be judged more harshly in my opinion.

With that said, most progressives in America are already enjoying or benefiting from the status quo. They are conservatives in disguise and has more money and wealth that what they show to the public on paper. They serve the interests of the wall street.. (which is still better than actual conservatives).

They are also socialists. I think we need to educate people on both sides of the isle.

They are conservatives in disguise?!

I am not saying that progressives have never told a lie, but to say that progressives are conservatives in disguise who are enjoying the benefits of the status quo themselves is something that a troll would say.

I perceive all politicians to be corrupt because they are working within a corrupt system. You are what you do day to day, and sure you can make small changes for the better (all that most of us ever achieve), but that's just how it is. Money first people second in politics.

Im getting all my homework done tonight so I can watch Leo's video when I get home from work.

But yeah, psychological and emotional manipulation does amazing things in this society especially for people who lack independent thought or emotion.

When you think about it long enough, he's technically right, as most progressives will not abandon their self image as the progressive, so the logical thing to do, is to conserve that self image, hence they are conservatives in disguise, in denial that they must conserve their role as  person in society.

Of course, they aren't literally right wing conservatives all alongxD

It does make sense. Ask a progressive to stop identifying as a progressive. They can't, and won't let that image go, unless they were exposed to some spirituality earlier in their life that they could intuit that letting go of that self image is better. It's like me asking you to stop being a conservative, or is it a democrat? I don't know, it's such there's so much time, energy and emotional labor put into maintaining that role that giving it up is a bitter experience.

Hence the danger of constructing your sense of identity on a political ideology, regardless of what that ideology happens to be.

Of course that's not to say that the particular ideology one makes this mistake with doesn't make a difference, as some are far more pathological and destructive in a given context than others.

It's also a good demonstration as to why spirituality is important. Since it opens the possibility of becoming aware of the Constructs we use to form our identify, and gives use an opportunity to cultivate more authentic values.

Which in turn makes it far easier to relate to our beliefs as something  tentative and provisional, rather than an emotional or epistemic anchor.
