Autism and PTSD

2 posts in this topic

Hey was just curious if there was anyone else on the forum who suffer from any one of these illnesses. Obviously professional help is the best way to go but still curious for any tips or help you got. Also leaving out details for public matters.

Heya, I have C-PTSD. It is different to PTSD. However, I reckon there are enough similarities for my advice to be useful.

I don't know too much about Autism though.

Here are some tips from me re C-PTSD.

I recommend Internal Family systems therapy, with an 'IFS institute' trained practioner.

You can find them on here: https://ifs-institute.com/practitioners

I'd try and get a level 3 if you can. I wouldn't recommend doing IFS with a non-institute IFS therapist, personally.

I'd recommend having trial sessions with at least 3 different of these psychotherapists, and then choosing the one you like the best.

Here's an intro vid to IFS:

I'd also recommend getting this audiobook:

Here's a subreddit for it:

I find this channel to be valuable too:

I think its useful for understanding family dynamics. Also, unlike other youtubers, I find him both professional and personable

For a general overlay of contemporary approaches to healing,

I'd listen/ read to: Body keeps the score by Kolk

Also, you might find this subreddit useful too:

Penultimately, I'd be selective about who you take advice from. I'd go with the experts, and no one else.

Finally, feel free to shoot me a message if you want my advice on something more. I still have a lot of recovery left myself, but I've learnt a thing or two about the recovery journey in my time.

Either way, I wish you well.
