Our significance in the cosmos

8 posts in this topic

Have you ever felt that everything you do and will do is meaningless? That no matter how great you are at something you will never be truly important, and that's when you are good at something, because most of the time you are just average. So why should we live if our existence has no importance, if it is not going to make any difference in the world? No big changes, you are just one more person like many others.

Then again, while we rely on society to survive, our sense of self worth need have nothing whatsoever to do with our societal interactions or dynamics. Walk in nature - just be a living thing amongst other living things, drawing in the same air, absorbing the same solar radiation as part of this extraordinary edifice of life on Earth.

Rather than feeling pointless, you can feel glad and privileged to part of these extraordinary things - the body of humanity, the biosphere, the Earth, the solar system. You are ultimately a tiny part of the expression of each of these entities. The nice aspect of this is that, since you (like me) are apparently not especially good at anything or capable of making much of a needed contribution to the world, we can sit back and enjoy watching it unfold without undue pressure of responsibility. Personal and local level assistance rendered to others is always an option and often happens naturally through the usual interactions of life anyway.

@Someone here what is significance?

Our worth . What is our worth as little humans in this vast infinite cosmos? We are like little ants .

Life is temporary and relatively short. And I’ve come to ask “why” enough to realize for so long my reasoning wasn’t meaningful enough. I’m working on focusing on appreciation as well as well-directed hope.

@Someone here not worth.. value. And yes, there's a difference.

Significance means difference, friend. Take away the human race and I can assure you, despite us being “like little ants” in a vast cosmos, we have significance. Unless of course you believe that our absence would have resulted in no difference to this world?

Significance is a choice because it is simply a matter of expression. Had we chosen not to express our potential humanity (the quality of being human) not so long ago and remained to be that purely instinctive creature that preferred the trees rather than open land, in that one out of many ancestral accordances, we would have not acquired any peculiar significance in sphere of life. We would be like the rest of the animals, not in any standing out.

This applies even to one's individuality of course. And by merely creating this thread to bring this question to mind, you prove yourself to be significant for you did not choose to remain quiet with a potential endeavour, but instead chose to express rather than repress. You have brought something to mind, you have signified a matter to take notice in. Had you not done this, would there have been someone else to do so? Maybe, but if there was no one before you.. chances are there would be no one till this moment.

By making a difference, by the mere choice of expression, you render yourself significant. The extent to how you do this is also your choice.

Significance is not worth, one can never put a price on it. Significance is value.. for that which is truly of significance can only be noticed once it's gone or reduced to its lesser expression. Presence and absence is already a big difference my friend. So even though, from your point of view, you're not of any significance, in my and my father's eyes you're quite a big deal.

Work on it, make a difference. I can tell you that what you do with your life simultaneously makes a difference in our planetary vibration. Work on it then express the fruits of your labour, and never be discouraged to do exactly that - express. This is a choice, Lighter. Whether or not to shine your light.. is a choice.

It may feel that way, but it is actually the exact opposite.

Realize, that literally everything you do changes the entire cosmic plane. The reason, is logically connected to the holistic hologram which we all are.
It was best described by the label "Butterfly Effect", wherein the fluttering of a single butterflies wings could realistically be the sole cause of a hurricane elsewhere in the world, due to the fact that energy is never destroyed only transmuted into some other cause at some other point in time.

The situation is only that we are not yet sensitive enough to see the effect we are having. It is practically invisible.

Your being too small minded about this. Taking too much of a backseat. Reducing yourself to a mere ant like creature gazing out at a giant cosmos. Actually falling into the trap, the game of life and the dream, the illusion. Infact total delusion. Which of course was your initial plan, as God, to delude yourself that this is the case. Your worth is all it’s worth, your worth is that you are the creator of the whole damn thing, without you, what you truly are, it does not exist! Look at the bigger picture of your worth and not that of the limited human ego’s delusion that you are pointless. Even though in one sense it is all actually pointless?. I love the paradoxical nature of this. It’s just love! It all always comes back to love. And that’s a point or meaning of worth you can never get away from. As far away as you think anything can get from it, everything will always circle back around to love. Which makes total sense, because God, reality, infinity, whatever you choose to call it, is just Love
