Massage and electricity on the meridians of the body

As a physical-therapist and classical massage therapist I have lately started a collaboration with a girl that is into spirituality at the ideologistical level. We have started to attempt a new massage course as she paid half the money for me. The course is about working with electricity on body's energy meridians, trying to open the main clogged meridians with electrical massage gloves and very specific technics. 
The first theoretical part of the course was full ideological yin and yang stuff,  organs working with each other in different energetic ways. I do not doubt the validity of some information but for me it sounded like a big bullshit, at least in the way they were trying to explain it. Maybe this work is based on some spiritual truth but this people have zero interest in truth what so ever.
Yesterday we have made the practical stuff, again some fixed ideas of how to hold your hands in very specific spots for a certain time. I cant lie, it gives a nice feeling on the body but I only see it as a combination of electrotherapy and massage wich both of them are beneficial on their own.
We are 2 men and 40 women attending this course, maybe that's the first hint there, the second might be that the teachers are a bit over the normal weight and no one cares. But let's look at the moon, not at the finger, maybe there is a piece of truth in all that, let me know.
I would be happy to know your opinion as I have no experience in body meridians and how they might work.
