Does existence have any worth higher than nonexistence? Or is it the different kinds.

8 posts in this topic

Does existence have any worth higher than nonexistence? Or is it the different kinds of attachments people have which from the point of the view of the individuals makes existence ce more worthy than nonexistence.

Which would mean that if one would have no attachments then non existence would be as good as existence for that person, isn't that correct?

Nonexistence does not exist. No one can have that little attachment and still have experience to any degree.

Ok, so you mean to say that nobody can have no attachments, and thus one is bond to have expirience?

It depends on what you call attachment and how literal you want to be. If there is experience whatsoever, there is going to likely be much more attachment than something that cannot exist by its very definition.

What's of value or meaning of things within a dream is entirely up to you, the dreamer. Likewise, your "physical reality" is in truth also a dream you're fabricating out of nothing. So the same kind of logic appears there as would in a sleeping dream.

Worth is something we create so the question should be:

Do I value existence higher than nonexistance.

Yes, because the value you put of existence over nonexistence is attachment.

Can you value non-existance though? You can value the concept of non-existence or absence of something but that is still something.

The same goes for existence. It's infinite so the mind can only put value on the concept of existence.

How would you choose between the two?

A person can want non-existance but that is because they are running from something that exists. And that is attachment/avoidance.

consider instead self vs no-self

with no-self ... life still can go on ... but life lives it, there isn't a you to do so ... your will not my will be done o lord

mystics such as bernadette roberts enjoyed this kind of ride as she let life steer her as it willed

self is accidental and arbitrary, no self is everyone's destiny and fulfillment
