Will the midterms be a red wave?

7 posts in this topic

Some polling data shows a strong favoritism for republicans doing well these midterms.

On one hand it is normal for the party in power to not do well during the next midterm, however this may cause issues for democrats as it’ll be even harder for them to get things done, which will put them in a worse situation for the next general election.

Do you agree or disagree? What should Democrats do to counter this?

People are getting sick of woke culture and people getting cancelled. People are generally stupid, but not that stupid. They are catching on that political correctness is getting too far.

Add to the fact that the democrats don’t have any strong faces at the moment; Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, AOC,… No one takes these people seriously. They don’t have a Barack Obama kind of figure. Joe Biden is even the best of the bunch.

An the democrats have made the mistake to not distance themselves from left woke extremists. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have had so many opportunities to distance themselves from these movements. But they didn’t, and the public won’t forget that.

I have seen analysts say that the democrats are basically defeating themselves. It’s not even that the republicans are doing so well that they are defeating the democrats. The democrats just have not paid enough attention and adjusted.

Let me dust off my crystal ball so I can tell you.

Seriously though I have no clue. It’s really up in the air. I’m trying to figure out why dems would go to the polls this upcoming election. Mid term elections tend to have consistent and established voters go, which is usually the elderly and older people, which are hear demographics tends to lean red.

Presidential elections tend to attract greater attention and people who usually don’t vote come out so that can often tip over blue.

I’m really wondering if blue feels all that compelled to even vote these mid terms. Doesn’t really seem like swing votes even matter that much. I personally don’t even believe there are many if any swing voters in 2022

How worried are you about Biden and the Democrats possibly losing the 2024 presidential election considering how low Biden's approval rating have been, possible near-term recession, and the lack of charisma from both Biden and Harris? I fear that if it happens then a conservative backlash armageddon afterwards will occur for well over a decade.

You can't counter it in the next 9 months. You can't turn the economy around in that amount of time, especially while sanctioning Russia. Biden's dementia isn't going to get any better, Kamala isn't going to become any more likeable.

Instead of trying to fight a tsunami, just ride the wave. Let it happen, don't waste resources on it, and start preparing for the next battle. Find someone for 2024 that's charismatic and that isn't totally out of touch with the American public, and hope Trump doesn't run again.

Cut the far-left members of the party loose and move back to a more centrist position. Even most Democrats don't support the stuff that people like AOC believe in. As much as all the stage green people here would like for US politics to move more left, you just have to realize that the majority of people aren't there yet, and you can't push it any faster. You'll just get a backlash if you try.

According to this poll it seems everyone except for college educated women moved to Republicans. College educated women are some of the more reliable voters however.

People are tired of the identity politics, this obsession with race, critical race theory, pushing transgenderism on children who haven't even reached puberty, cancel culture, the mask mandates, especially in schools, and the list goes on. Also this soft on crime mentality where violent offenders are given low bails... why?

This and many other things related to this are why a red wave is coming. I'm not a huge fan of republicans, but the left is off their rockers lately. They haven't even hidden this fact and gone moderate during this election cycle... they seem to be as extreme as ever with what they are peddling.
