Because you’re not from NY  They wouldn’t dare to pull this shit on their local businesses because the chances of them getting sued for this are pretty high here - everyone in NYC seems to have a lawyer haha 

 

I would document/take screenshots of their social media, what they’re saying about Ukraine-Russia, document your forum comments. And then have them try their luck in court to try and prove that what they’re doing to you is not an act of discrimination. You are allowed to have a different political opinion.

Vimeo has a strange pricing system. That's why I left them when they introduced the filesize cap.

Otherwise it's a great service. 5k seems a little pricy tho. Maybe it's worth looking into Amazon Cloudfront.

Vimeo deactivated them because they say Actualized.org is in the top 1% of all Vimeo accounts in terms of bandwidth usage.

To reactivate the videos they are asking me to pay them $5000/yr.

Just to give you an idea of how much of a price hike that is, I was paying them $200/yr for the last 8 years (that's what a standard Vimeo account costs). So a 25x price hike overnight.

What's the reason you don't just upload your blog stuff on youtube as unlisted videos with the comments deactivated? and only keep the LP stuff on Vimeo?

Maybe @mmKay's suggestion is the best, you can free up some bandwith, with the move, where you upload the blog videos on youtube, not necessarily on the main channel, you could make another channel for that, or you could use the main one.

Or, you can search for another platform, which has more payable prices. Of course i'm aware that this move would require also a lot of work, because you would need to upload all your past videos there.

Dang, I was just about to watch one of the LP vids when I saw this. Guess I'll be patient and wait for it to be fixed. (that is some huge bullshit that they'd charge that much for their top users though, especially without much of any prior warning.)

Just pay someone from Fiverr a few hundred bucks to download and reupload your Vimeo videos to a different platform.

Edit: I haven't really thought out that they first have to be able to access the videos, so that probably won't work lol.

   I think it's possible, but it's probably more work to unpack the technical jargon and spin up a counter to this. Easier to do is to rally up social media, for example twitter, but it'll be tricky with the subject matters covered here.

In order to present a decent case one would have to build it on the basis racial discrimination and use Leo being half-Russian as a core argument. Then formulate a claim such as questioning their true motives why they are creating sudden financial hardships for him, speculating about whether they may be trying to deplatform him because they’re prejudiced against him being Russian, speculate about them being triggered by his perspective on Putin etc. Then layer it with evidence that supports those claims, and there would be a case. Weather it’s strong enough or even worthy to bother with is definitely questionable haha - I just like entertaining all kinds of ideas. Realistically though, I would probably just focus on figuring out the best way to go about ditching them/transferring to a different vendor.
