My dad is afraid of psychedelics

11 posts in this topic

Iv'e recently had some psychotic episodes as a result of questioning reality as deeply as I could and reaching a euphoric joker like state that comes with acceptance of solipsism and nihilism.

My dad was very scared by this and has try and put pandora back into her box by quickly blaming this on psychedelics. he is usually very open minded but also pretty scared of truth, so he doesn't go out of his way to explore it.

How do I show him that blaming my mental state on psychedelics (instead of blaming it on the way in which I explore my mind) and fearing them as a result is stupid?

Isn't everyone afraid of truth to a certain degree? Did this surprise you? Does your dad understand anything at all about how psychedelics function? According to Leo's video on nihilism, nihilism "gets many things wrong".

Those were just my initial thoughts on your post. Just trying to get a better understanding of the situation.

Don't bother explaining it. Just do what you know is right.

And lay off the psychedelics if you are mentally unstable.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

How do you make sure this doesn't happen to you, even if you aren't doing psychs?

No one can tell you how to manage your mind but you.

If you are going to question reality deeply, you're basically on your own, in uncharted waters. No one is going to hold your hand.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

If you're more prone to mental illness, or have previous trauma, I would suggest working with a shaman or healer who can guide you through the trip to get the most out of it.  At least for the first few trips so you have a mental map/road to take when/if you trip in the future.  Just my 2c take or leave, either way gl on your journey!

Why are you trying to question reality as deep as you can? Genuine question. I would love to learn your motivations and drive behind this

@Julian gabriel

Just gonna share this. Maybe it'll help.

I learned through doing my own psychedelic therapy that I took on the belief that i should seek deep awakening, when it wasn't a genuine desire of mine or something I'm ready for. I followed these videos and teachings and then believed it was something I had to do or else I wouldn't be happy. So I pushed myself to places I didn't want to go, which was just hurting me and a path eventually leading to psychosis. So I stopped doing this and just try to enjoy myself in the present moment as I am. Much more blissful.
