Brutal Love Mega-Thread

7 posts in this topic

Usually we think of love as open, allowing, acceptive and feminine but there is also a brutal aspect to Love. Sometime ago, Leo posted on his blog a video of I Am Legend as an example of an harsh expression of Love: https://www.actualized.org/insights/this-is-love

The movie Beautiful Boy is another good example of the kind of love I am talking about: the father of a drug addict tries everything to help his son get clean, even trying drugs himself, but in the end he has to accept that he can't help him and has to let him go and cut him off completely from his life out of love. Highly suggested movie.

It would be helpful to understand that love is not just the stereotypical kind of love that people usually think about when hearing the word "Love".

Please share other examples of brutal love that you have seen in movies, books, articles, news, blog posts, YouTube videos etc. or even examples from your own life.

Disciplining children.  Parents call it 'tough love' for a reason.

Usually an excuse for a lack of genuine love and an inability to communicate with them in a real way.

Aren't terrorists usually doing something honorable in their minds? I guess you could call that "love".

Brutal love , to me, is when I first realized that the mind can't own love or any other positiive attribute.

It's not "my" love or "your" love.

Same thing with owning any other positive attributes.

"My kindness" or "My compassion" or "My happiness" or "My high vibration" completely drops.

That's when things start getting scary haha
