Meditation teacher training course recommendations?

8 posts in this topic

I'm wondering if anyone has done any meditation teacher training courses they'd recommend.

Preferably if you've taken it yourself.  But I'm open to word of mouth as well or if you know of someone well-known in the field that holds courses.

Cheers

@Matt23

You could try yoga if there is place close to you, because there they teach you to let go (That also helps your physical well being). Most important thing is to go somewhere, if you want and during that time you can search for new places. Thing is not to find the best place first, but get you to take action. Otherwise you would just wait till your dream life comes to you and that will never happen.

10 day vipassana retreats are pretty powerful, but I haven't personally been there. There is link to search vipassana retreats close to you. If you just have time to spend 10 days I would recommend this a lot. In vipassana retreats you are completely in silence so you are not allowed to talk with anyone here and that helps you to just focus on meditation alone. This retreat can be so powerful that you could get dark night of the soul after it.

@Matt23

What spiritual background you have? What practises have you done and how much? What is exactly the thing that you want out of meditation teacher training courses? And NOW when I read the thing again I got thougth that did you mean meditation course for you or course to become meditation teacher.

It will come bro, just visualise 16 hours a day and it will happen... haha.

No shortcut to the work.

Yoga TTC also has meditation modules. I just completed my in person yoga TTC. Now doing a 200 hour online TTC with an ashram in Rishikesh,India. I love it. In person is best but the online one is very good too. My practice is blooming.

Add on to my answer is that it does not matter what teacher courses you take, because everything is still about your own knowledge of the thing. So personal experience is the key word here. If you want to be teacher for big audience or even just 1 on 1, you need great voice so you have good authority.

As I said taking action is the most important thing and therefore you could just NOW start practising confidence and clear commucation. Clear communication comes when you know exactly the topic you are going to teach. To that you need to explain the thing couple of times to other people  so you see what are the common misunderstandings and responses.

Also top of that you should order the mind illuminated book, because it may have new insights to you. Still I say that just explore that field for yourself so well that you can guide others on the way by ease. Guide with map in his/her mind is always greater than guide with a map.

Meditating and doing self-inquiry since about 2014.  Various types: mindfulness, bodyscan, various self-inquiry techniques, some Dzogchen, walking meditations, do-nothing, breath, focusing techniques, loving-kindness and Metta meditations, Brahma vihara meditations, visualization techniques, some psychedelics (2 retreats and several of my own trips: Ayahuasca, Iboga, Huachuma, psylocibin, LSD, MDMA, some research chemical I forget the name of), breathwork (solo, with a guide, and once in a big group session), circling and communication/sharing practices online, Kirtan (group music) a few times... 5-7 day camping solos (a couple of these).... ummm... ya.  Some group meditations as well.

I'd probably just want some certificates to get accredited.  It's harder to just go into a meditation hall without a certificate and be like "Yoooo. I got meditation skills snice 2014, can I teach here?"
