You can only get so far by engaging them at their level. The main solution is more education. That is what makes an expert after all.

One way you can turn yourself off from Flat Earth is by reading the history of science and making an inference based on a well-established pattern. Historically, it's been the case that those who challenged and eventually toppled the mainstream paradigm were generally experts in their field; people with world-class understanding of the paradigm they're criticizing. They also weren't met with praise from either the scientific establishment or the public in general without years of intense struggle. It's a silent movement of dedicated, fringe experts who work their asses off to improve their field. Flat Earth is not that. It's a loud and obnoxious movement of uneducated laymen and grifters. It's public contagion, not academic advancement.

Earth (insofar as we ascribe to it a separate and real existence) has been best described as spherical for millennia.

The ancient Greeks wrote about how a spherical model of the earth accords with various observations (a feat that no other model can match).

Personally, until I've been out in the stars and have looked back, I don't know what too think, nor am I concerned about it either way. I've listened to flat earthers out of curiosity to simply hear them out, and yet more than anything, what I've found interesting was their focus on Admiral Byrd. He's an interesting story. The antarctic treaties that were formed afterwards, the reasoning to them, that isn't adding up.

Note, I'm not advocating the flat earth theory rather I'm just giving an example, of when you hear out these strange notions and theories, you'll usually find something interesting to pick out of it all.

The video creator has clearly never read any original texts by natural philosophers/scientists nor performed actual experiments.

 

(Note, I am not claiming that earth is one way or another. I am claiming that certain ways of reasoning accord more with observation than others. In the case of this vimeo video, the reasoning so clearly defies observation that it's laughable. Hence, this guy has clearly not read or performed "actual experiments.")
