An Immunologist predicts that a vaccine-resistant variant will happen by spring 2022

I’m no immunologist, but it does seem possible. The virus mutates quickly and it may mutate faster than we can make a vaccine. I honestly don’t know.

Regardless, it’s a good time to make sure you’re doing what you can to take care of your health just in case. Don’t wait until the next variant comes, be proactive in your health the best you can without becoming paranoid.

Well it seems like they are resistant anyway, every boosted person I know has been really sick with Covid.  Vaccine doesn’t work for everyone, it’s a gamble.  Then there are people who didn’t catch it at all when they were around people who had it.  For example my brother didn’t catch it when his wife and kids got it and he didn’t isolate from them.
I didn’t catch it yet but I think that comes down to me not really mixing with people I don’t know, mostly it’s just me and my boyfriend doing stuff together like getting food or going to the cinema. No parties. No alcohol so immunity is stronger. At work I wear a mask all day.  It seems like everyone with kids is catching it, and people who party/socialise are catching it.  In Germany all the boosted people are getting it because they are the ones who can do what they want without getting tested.  Unvaccinated people aren’t allowed to go anywhere since October last year so they aren’t the ones spreading.  and if you are only double vaxxed you need a negative test if you want to go in a social place.  Boosted people are the ones spreading it here.

Dude, you are really trolling hard. Vaccines are incredibly necessarily and remarkably effective for EVERYONE.

Yeah, my family and I have been everything we possibly can. My parents and I not have been fully vaccinated and boosted, but parents have been at home most of time as if they have been living a hermetic bubble practically everyday. I've also had to miss out on tons of social and job opportunities because I still live with them and I don't want to get infected. Otherwise, I would jeopardize my parents' health greatly.

there are new vaccines coming out (novavax I think its called) which do not only target the spike protein, but a larger part of the virus.

Those vaccines should be a lot more resistant to mutations. (according to my brother, who is infectiologist)

I would be a bit surprised if new variants are able to completly escape the immune response of people who had omnicron. The body creates antibodies for all parts of the virus, while new variants have often just a handful of mutations. Only time will tell, but I would not lose all hope, that prior infections like omnicron will improve the situation.

I think its going to be a situation where by the end of Spring 2022, we all might have to get another booster to fight this variant.
