Limitation's of using our finite human mind to explore consciousness

13 posts in this topic

I was recently contemplating the inherent challenges of using our finite minds to explore and understand God or consciousness. How can something finite ever fully comprehend something that is infinite? Is this even possible? It seems at best, we could only achieve a partial understanding while we are still limited in our human form. What are your thoughts on this?

No matter how crazy life gets, it's still merely a fleeting insignificant thought the ineffable God is having, so to speak.

@The0Self True

I have had an insatiable curiosity to understand God, consciousness and reality since I was a child. I guess all we can hope to achieve while we are in human form is a slightly more expanded glimpse and understanding. Have you noticed how often people who have very profound deep insights still project a lot of human concepts and attributes onto God? That is one of the inherent challenges of exploring consciousness through the lens of our human mind.

I agree, the more I learn, the less I know.

Einstein said something very close this.

Well that is why we say that God in himself is completely unknowable and ineffable, he completely transcends being or non being, it has no power over him since he gives being to us and being and structure to the cosmos.

He is Infinite, but we dont really know what that truly means, we use words like omnipotence, omniscient etc, which is more a negative theology, because we can't imagine the power or wisdom of his Infinite Mind.

We would have to rely on something more then just theology/philosophy etc, we have to rely on Divine Revelation, how God manifest himself to us.

But also notice that there is spiritual experiences which is delusional and is the work of the "devil"

God is infinite uncreated Light.

Divine revelation also show and reveal the profoundness of God's wisdom and  it reveals God to be a Personal God, not some mere abstract force like it is in star wars.

And he did become incarnate, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, to show that human and divine can co mingle and live in total unity, we become gods through God's grace, theosis.

But we never become God in his essence,  we can know some of his energia, but not his essence.

And we are also made in the image of God, we are a microcosm, we are the Logoi of the Logos.

Let thy speech be better then silence, or be silent.

There isn’t something which is infinite. Understanding is a self referential belief, an apparent thought which actually labels nothing.

I would agree with this while we are in a limited finite form.

I love this definition. :)

Yes, but again this is man projecting his humanness onto God. Aliens on others planets that have no resemblance at all to humans could say the same thing. To me a more accurate statement would be everything is made in the image of God.

@Nahm I agree it isn't a something. These are the limitations of language, but you get what I am saying.

@Matthew85

Not meant argumentatively whatsoever… there isn’t that ‘it’. This isn’t a limit of language. ? There isn’t ‘a finite mind exploring consciousness’, there isn’t any ‘understanding of consciousness’. These claims can not be made with integrity in clarity & honesty. It only seems like it from listening to the conjecture of thought attachment to spiritual ego. Essentially, fundamental hypocrisy. But there isn’t that either. These are delusional claims. There could be said to be great significance to this as it relates to actual world peace, and false narratives around mental health & psychedelics, and Truth.

It's more a case of Consciousness remembering that it's not limited to the finite mind. Awareness having more and more glimpses of the unreality of thought.

Luckily you are in Infinite Mind cosplaying as a finite mind. So it's all possible. Just stop the cosplay ;)

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.
