Leo, about your retreats.

Do you belive that your previous long solo retreats have "primed" your consciousness/mind so to speak making it more receptive to the deep, profound understanding that you later obtained from psychedelics?

Because must psychedelic users dont grasp your level of understanding.

Do you still do these type of manual solo retreats? I belive they still can offer a lot of value, at least for me.

Havent done one yet but signing up for vipassana soon.

No

That's cause they haven't spent their entire lives contemplating such things whereas I have. I'm also much more sensitive to psychedelics than normal people. 2-3x more sensitive.

I haven't done one in a while due to Covid and health issues. But I wanna do some more. They would be much more powerful for me now.

It works the opposite of what you suggest. It's not that meditation retreat increase my psychedelics but that psychedelics increase my meditation retreats. At least for me.

@Leo Gura would you ever make your own retreats for people to visit?

I know you don't want to deal with the cult stuff and whatever

And if people already threaten suicide on the forum, what would happen in a retreat?

but..... i think generally much more could be learned in the real thing than over the internet.

it could be cool

have Satsang and hire some cool nurses who plug the good stuff you know

I know that the guy from the "here we are" podcast for example organised mushroom retreats in Jamaica

I don't really want to hassle of organizing meditation retreats. Meditate solo. You don't need to meditate in a herd.

@Leo Gura Do you still meditate and do yoga on a consistent basis and do you still recommend it? With or without psychedelics

My meditation is getting very simple and bare bones. Just sit and focus on the fact that I am God.

Health problems have kept me from doing yoga consistently.

I also try to meditate more in everyday life, like if I am cooking, driving, or even if I'm out gaming. Gaming has been surprisingly meditative for me as I have to completely shut off my mind when I game. I try to game from a state of no-mind.

I'd just fancy a nurse who plugs me the goodies in Jaimaca

but it's fine, no hard feelings

That's great. Seems like that's the way to go. To expand the areas of your life where meditation happens until life is happening within meditation.

Also gaming is quite meditative for me aswell.

I'd be slightly sceptical and careful about this.

My explanation would be that people go under the mind, not above the mind when they play games. It's the opposite of meditation.

Just saying.

I do this as well. Sometimes the simplest practices are the most profound.

I am sorry to hear that Leo. Have you discovered any deeper purpose for your health challenges you want to share?

Yes. When I began looking for opportunities to practice mindfulness and appreciation throughout my day, I saw many positive changes. Turn your life into a meditation.

He’s talking about doing pickup.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

@PurpleTree I have had insights during meditation retreats, but my most profound realizations occurred during solo contemplation and meditation.

Meditate solo.

You don't value having a teacher around on a retreat? What else makes you think meditating solo is superior?

Def not.

When I would go to Shinzen Young's retreats I would just meditate by myself outside away from everyone else.

Then I realized, why the fuck am I not just doing my own solo retreats? And thus the solo retreat was born.

But you may be different. You may benefit from the structure and camaraderie of a group retreat.

@Leo Gura

How many meditative retreats have you done in total? Have you been to a Rupert Spira retreat?

Between 5-10? 5 retreats is very different from 10.  @Leo Gura
