How to deal with feeling really down?

Hey guys (and gals), 

after my last trip I hit a very enjoyable upswing in life. I started to get my dating life back on the rails, worked on new art and even looked into getting a nice apartment. 

However over the last week or so I've just felt down. Like joy, hope and happiness are sucked out of life. I've tried just feeling the feeling but it persists and the thoughts that come up along side it are self defeating. When I felt down in the past it usually passed quickly as I'm generally a positive dude, but this seems more persistent. 

Any good ideas or resources on how to handle that?

I like to look at in levels,

1. Physical

                  basically work on things that can only be help physically. In you case I could say are you going some exercise? 

2. Chemical  

                  Food, drugs and toxins. Are you clean from toxins (i,e heavy metals) drugs like MDMA can have month long downs that are noticeable. Are you eating right. 

 

3. phycological 

                  Watch your thought's see that the are very negative the mind loves to see the world is awful yet 99% is pure beautiful nature.  

4. spiritual 

                 Are you regularly meditating, doing yoga?

There is lots to talk about on each level hoped that help.

Also the stages are needed to be done in order somewhat.

@ChrisZoZo thanks for the reply! 

I work out 5 times/week plus 1-2 long distance runs. My diet is clean (organic, whole foods) and I do not take MDMA (only LSD, twice in the last 5 months or so). I'm planning a heavy metal detox soon, so I can't speak on that. Due to the change being quite abrupt I don't think that's it. 

Meditation is daily in addition to Wim Hof + cold shower in the mornings.

@cle103 My guess is an ego backlash but there is much more to look in to. Also say thank you for all this, Say thank you for the pain and the depression. Love it because there is no reason to hate it. If you can’t love it. Love the fact that you can't love it.

@Wilhelm44 I feel like my heart isn't in it, to be honest. The feeling of "down" reflects itself in my actions.

Try giving Love to the world through meditation, just send that energy outwards instead of waiting to receive - give all of that Loving energy to your environment - surrender into how it feels - and practice, and then everything will change for the better.  When you feel down, it is often that a person has forgotten how to do this.

Try listening to a song you love and look at a beautiful image of the earth or something and send that Love outwards - as you practice this it also changed the neural pathways from feeling 'down' to feeling 'up'.

did you introduce any new supplements?

once i started taking melatonin everyday for a while and that caused depressive symptoms

@cle103 Honestly, I would try a song and image that resonates with you, rather than something I posted - it was just an example.
