Playing with Perspectives

An invention has to be adopted on mass for it to become part of our social reality.

In this way, a conceptual construct (language, mind, self, etc.) gets eventually overlooked as itself and begins to be considered existentially true.

Is hunting witches right or wrong? Examples like that show how cultures create the parameters from which to decide whether something's considered right or wrong, based on cultural programming and premises. Questions like that are posed, and are always based on a given culture's presumptions. Come up with closed questions like that one that predispose an answer in favor of the questioner's assumptions.

No action in itself can be right or wrong. An action is itself: moving the body a certain way, speaking, thinking.

This predisposition or attitude may often be known as moral relativism. I see it more as simple honesty, which by the way doesn't justify unconscious acting, nor does it preclude the reality of intelligent behavior.

I tend to ignore or overlook seemingly simple communications from others, specially regarding spiritual work. I assume that I understand the subject matter because the expression is straightforward and easy to understand intellectually. But there are almost always deeper points and ramifications to grasp experientially.

That basically means that I don't actually listen. Perhaps at times I don't intend to and just want to be entertained.

Tricky stuff.

I've made the decision to practice semen retention for this month. I started yesterday.

My progress will be posted here – simply the day and whether it was successful or not, maybe with additional comments that I find relevant.

The main goal of this challenge for me is testing my integrity, making sure that I can trust my word.

Done for successful day/week, relapsed for failed attempt.

–––

First week - Done

I need to work out intensely every day in order to cope with the increased energy. This practice is incredibly useful for implementing an exercise habit into your daily routine.

Second Week - Done

No major urges. It's been effortless up until now. My voice is deeper now. Again, it seems like my energy has increased since I started this challenge. It may in fact influence or cause that increase, or be a combination of other factors. Not sure.

Third week - Done

I'm more outgoing and sensitive to my body. That may be a combination of this challenge with occasional, short periods of fasting, and perhaps vitamin c supplementation. I'm a bit aggressive and irritable now unless I work out. My breathing seems to have improved, too. I've noticed that I'm more capable of confronting and dealing with negative emotions, whereas before I'd try to reach for my smartphone or turn on the TV.

I'm surprised by how effortless the challenge is going.

22-30 - Done

Almost completed. The last four days I've been rather hostile and irritable. The reason why I think that's the case is because I haven't exercised for a long time. Gasping is more common, as if the body is releasing pent up energy.

Challenge completed.

Benefits that are clear to me by doing semen retention are quite a few. In terms of body-being, I feel more present and grounded in my body and are more sensitive to it. Perhaps testosterone has something to do with it.

In the domain of mind, clarity and confidence have increased, too. The impulse to exercise and move arise naturally.

I'm now much more ruthless with myself and others, in a positive sense. The ability to be effective, direct, and straightforward have been improved considerably.

In general, semen retention is worth undertaking at least a couple months per year in my opinion, especially if you haven't refrained from any form of sex for a long time. It's worth a shot.

In a nutshell, being horny kicks ass. The simplest lessons entail the most work to learn. :P

O fool, do something, so you won't just stand there looking dumb.

If you are not traveling and on the road, how can you call yourself a guide?

In the School of Truth, one sits at the feet of the Master of Love.

So listen, son, so that one day you may be an old father, too!

All this eating and sleeping has made you ignorant and fat;

By denying yourself food and sleep, you may still have a chance.

Know this: If God should shine His lovelight on your heart,

I promise you'll shine brighter than a dozen suns.

And I say: wash the tarnished copper of your life from your hands;

To be Love's alchemist, you should be working with gold.

Don't sit there thinking; go out and immerse yourself in God's sea.

Having only one hair wet with water will not put knowledge in that head.

For those who see only God, their vision

Is pure, and not a doubt remains.

Even if our world is turned upside down and blown over by the wind,

If you are doubtless, you won't lose a thing.

O Hafiz, if it is union with the Beloved that you seek,

Be the dust at the Wise One's door, and speak!

Hafiz

Avadhuta Gita:

Quote

Why do you run here and there like a hungry ghost?

Separateness and Oneness do not exist for “you” and “me.”

There is no you. There is no me. There is no universe.

All is Self and Self alone.

Quote

Dear child, why do you roam the world like a ghost?

Behold! You are Self—that which cannot be divided.

Do not crave the world. Be happy!

You are Truth. You do not move. You do not change.

You are the ever-free, the unshakable One.

In you there is neither attachment nor aversion.

Why do you seek objects of desire and cause yourself to suffer?

Ashtavakra Gita:

Quote

Not seeing Self, the world is materialized.

Seeing Self, the world is vanished.

Quote

You can enjoy and work and meditate,

but you will still yearn for That which is beyond all experience,

and in which all desires are extinguished.

YOU’RE IT

Quote

God

Disguised

As a myriad things and

Playing a game

Of tag

Has kissed you and said,

“You’re it—

I mean, you’re Really IT!”

Now

It does not matter

What you believe or feel

For something wonderful,

Major-league Wonderful

Is someday going

To

happen.

"Creation is never in the hands of the individual. It ceases entirely when individuality, with its capacities, gifts, techniques and so on, becomes dominant. Creation is the movement of the unknowable essence of the whole; it is never the expression of the part." – J. Krishnamurti.

Fear of the unknown and fear of success are nonsense. You're not afraid of either.

What you're afraid of is possible unexpected harm and messing up, respectively.
