Splitting up meditation sits

Do you find that it makes a difference whether you meditate for 1 hour, 3x20min, or 2x30min, etc in one day?

better is one swoop in my experience else mind will hijack the shorter sessions, notice that your mind wants shorter and so you should do opposite

also first thing in the morning is much better, this sets the day up nicely ... after meditation you don't think about it again ... until the next day

I prefer the constant and longer one. the shorter ones lose their quality.

I prefer longer sitting, and I definitely see dramatic differences in my state of mind when I sit longer. But I do want to put a plug in for deep practice rather than time based practice- Especially if you're new. Deep practice means fully devoted, focused practice. Sitting down on the cushion or in the chair and putting your full attention into your practice. 5 minutes of deep practice will do way more for you than an hour of half hearted practice.

I would recommend that you be honest with yourself and ask yourself- when you sit, how long are you doing truly focused and devoted practice? If you find that for every 30 minutes, you're truly devoted for 10 minutes- then start sitting for 10 minutes in a fully devoted and focused way.
