0 sex drive during withdrawal

8 posts in this topic

Hello awesome people,

As I continue to grow I face new challenges.

I decided that I will stop using weed as I am currently addicted of it, and working through resolving this.

The thing that bothers me is one withdrawal symptom, which is no sexual drive / desire at all.

Since forever, I've been an individual with a very high sexual drive.

Before quitting, I was having a group of a few girls which I was sleeping with, and this no sex drive bugs me, and also it happened to some of them, as they tend to take it personally / take it as I'm not attracted to them.

Few of the girls really listened and we organized study meetings instead.

Any tips for my situation?

Should I put the soldier down while my sex drive is MIA?

Have you been through similar situations?

I'm also interested in any good tips you might have in regards to the process of quitting weed.

Also I'm not sure if it bothers me cause I can't satisfy them, or it's just an ego thing.

Thanks!

Usually from tension, might be feeling tension which was masked. Deep relaxation like meditation would be helpful, but it’ll come back around on it’s own accord in any case.

How much did you smoke? Did you smoke every day, almost constantly high or more like a few times a week?

How long have you been without smoking as of today?

How recently did you quit weed? I believe medically this is referred to as PAWS (Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) and lack of libido is a common symptom.

@Jenkins Been there dude, still there. I don't have a sex life anymore because of multiple unpleasant situations that this caused in my sexual relationships. It is what it is for me.

I personally right now believe that long-term depth psychotherapeutic work is the answer for me. As well as transcending out of my current toxic life circumstance, which I'm finding very challenging to do.

I agree with Nahm's point about tension.

Something else that comes to mind is that perhaps when you are smoking weed your mind is able to dissociate away from certain parts of yourself. When not on weed those parts are activated, and these parts inhibit your sexual experience. For example, it may be that the activated part shames your sexual desires, and so sex becomes associated with shame. The film Shame (2011) captures this exquisitely, in my opinion.

Regarding kicking the weed addiction, I think having structure to your day helps, edging off weed gradually, and inner healing is the long-term solution. But, the latter is more based on faith, I'm still struggling with addiction myself. Notably, internet addiction.

@roopepa sorry for the tag, I couldn't remove it :))

I wanna thank everyone and for their awesome insights.

I just started this journey and was a hard hitter, so I guess it will be an insightful and difficult one which I'll face with stoicism.

I'll share whatever I find useful ?

well, that's why you call it withdrawal!

the addiction is so deep that you need time to recover because of the process called: dopamine reset.

literally that hormone and hormones similar to that are the main cause of your overall mood. if your overall mood is down, you are not sexually active.

a long while ago, I was so addicted to coffee that without having it, I couldn't get up my penis (while having an extra amount of sexual energy and as a sexually active person), as soon as I drank some coffee, I could feel the instant erection even without sexual stimulation!

as long as you get recovered from that addiction, everything will come back, no worries it's not a health issue.
