Eating Raw Cacao Beans

5 posts in this topic

I bought the raw cacao pods at a farmers market and the raw beans are delicious.

My question is how many beans is it per serving ?

I ate too many beans the other day and couldn't sleep lol.

Caffeine in cacao can vary a lot.

@mandyjw yea it seems difficult to measure based on the raw plants. Makes me think how did our ancestors know how much to eat?

I'm just sticking to my store bought cacao powder. I may make dark chocolate with the fruit pods though.

@Fearless_Bum  Trial and error, just like you!

Personally, the theobromine in cacao only affects me for about an hour, so I don't get sleeping problems from it.

If they hold a lot of caffeine, though, that will be in my system for literally days - so then I have to be careful.

But again, find what works for you.

@flowboy thats insane lol, as theobromine is known to last longer than caffeine, like 7-9 hours.

But anyways, I decided to use the beans to create raw cacao powder.

Cacao is awesome! I love it's more mellow relaxed buzz ?.
