Please Call Me By My True Names

Do not say that I'll depart tomorrow because even today I still arrive.

Look deeply: I arrive in every second to be a bud on a spring branch, to be a tiny bird, with wings still fragile, learning to sing in my new nest, to be a caterpillar in the heart of a flower, to be a jewel hiding itself in a stone.

I still arrive, in order to laugh and to cry, in order to fear and to hope. The rhythm of my heart is the birth and death of all that are alive.

I am the mayfly metamorphosing on the surface of the river, and I am the bird which, when spring comes, arrives in time to eat the mayfly.

I am the frog swimming happily in the clear pond, and I am also the grass-snake who, approaching in silence, feeds itself on the frog.

I am the child in Uganda, all skin and bones, my legs as thin as bamboo sticks, and I am the arms merchant, selling deadly weapons to Uganda.

I am the twelve-year-old girl, refugee on a small boat, who throws herself into the ocean after being raped by a sea pirate, and I am the pirate, my heart not yet capable of seeing and loving.

I am a member of the politburo, with plenty of power in my hands, and I am the man who has to pay his "debt of blood" to my people, dying slowly in a forced labor camp.

My joy is like spring, so warm it makes flowers bloom in all walks of life. My pain is like a river of tears, so full it fills the four oceans.

Please call me by my true names, so I can hear all my cries and laughs at once, so I can see that my joy and pain are one.

Please call me by my true names, so I can wake up, and so the door of my heart can be left open, the door of compassion.

-Thich Nhat Hanh

Does not seem 95.

All the 95 year olds i know look like skeletons compared to him.

I guess that's what living a monk's life will do to ya.

"This body is not me.
I am not limited by this body.
I am life without boundaries.
I have never been born,
and I shall never die.
Look at the ocean and the sky filled with stars,
manifestations from my wondrous true mind.
Since before time, I have been free.
Birth and death are only doors through which we pass,
sacred thresholds on our journey.
Birth and death are a game of hide-and-seek.
So laugh with me,
hold my hand,
let us say good-bye,
say good-bye, to meet again soon.
We meet today.
We will meet again tomorrow.
We will meet at the source every moment.
We meet each other in all forms of life."

He was like my first taste of spirituality in a way like 9 years ago. Love and miss him already!

This one's a classic:

Farewell, brother.

So your dream of this dude burnt up and dematerialised. Just like whoever you were encountering in last nights dream. Not really too much of an issue. You’ll fire him up and burn him up again and again unto infinity. Him and every other possible version of a human being. I wouldn’t fret over it to be honest

@Dazgwny

Of course it is pointless to mourn the illusory passing away of an illusory person. And it's equally pointless to point this out to a bunch of illusory people on an illusory online forum. You get my point? :P

All of life is pointless, if you haven't noticed.

@Bazooka Jesus yea ? but I’m here and I’m keeping myself entertained and distracted simultaneously and that happened to be the outcome. So I do get your point. Simultaneously being aware of both ends of the spectrum I guess. Which…. Leaves me smack bang in the middle ? so here am, doing this. I won’t derail the thread anyway leave at that ??
