So, I appear to have will of some sort. But the Earth also appears to be willing me downwards. But my will is simultaneously the Earth's will, because I am the Earth. I am the entire Universe. So, I am willing myself towards the ground. If this will is all that exists... what is my will free from? Itself? Or nothing at all? You see, the term free-will implies there is something other than will to be free from. So, I don't just have free will. Will is totally unbounded. I am Infinite Will. And using this infinite will that I am, I will all of spacetime into existence, right now, forever. Edited January 11, 2022 by tuku747 Brains DO NOT Exist. Posted January 11, 2022 @WokeBloke are you free to do other than what occurs to you to do? Who decides what occurs to you? "I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people."

What occurs to me to do is determined by my desire at any given moment. If my desires come from me then ultimately I am responsible for my desires.

From a certain perspective, you are slave to your desires, not free from them. "I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people."

It's sort of like saying I am enslaved my my own being. At least though I am the prisoner and the prison. As long as I'm not imprisoned by something other than myself then I'm okay. The problem with Sam Harris is he denies that he's also the puppet master. And indeed desire is my gas. But it's my gas after all.

Make a puppet.. put it's strings in it's hands and see if it dances. Sam Harris is behaving exactly as his internal and external conditions dictate. Even a rock is free to behave exactly like a rock. Do rocks have free will? If 'free will' just means that I behave like myself, then it really doesn't mean anything, because this is true of everything. Posted January 11, 2022 Do you have the free will to not philosophize constantly? It seems to be evidence of an automatic process to me. What did the stage orange scientist call the stage blue fundamentalist for claiming YHWH intentionally caused Noah’s great flood? Delugional.

The desire for truth + self honesty, especially if you don’t really desire truth — admitting that would be the first step to openness to truth, and in that sense of desire (authentic desire), you always get what you want, you just have to know what that is — and it’s easy to not know. Knowing what you want is an art in itself — deeply intuitive — I couldn’t tell you the how but that’s the what.
