On Facing Fears

7 posts in this topic

What is the easiest way to face your fears? I understand that at some level, facing your fears involves literally experiencing that which you fear the most, but what are some ways we can make this a smooth process?

There is no "your fear".

There is no need for "facing your fear" or for doing anything about it.

People often convey fear as this monster which needs to be slayed sooner or later. This only makes fear seem real and powerful, when it's in fact nothing. You don't need to fight or react to fear in any way. Just allow it. That's it.

no there is no smooth process, you just do the right thing and surrender to what is. what is means, anything that arises in your experience of consciousness. fully feeling and experiencing, no more avoidance. thats the way out

just be here, if you can do it this moment you can do it the next moment

this is the now, now is all that is real, the truth is now, not your concept or experience, just this

Allowing your desires and following your heart will naturally bring about situations where you will appreciate the adventure.

@thenondualtankie  "what are some ways we can make this a smooth process?

I can't promise that facing fear will be smooth, after all even a rose garden has its thorns! But one suggestion from my experience is mindfulness - both in meditation, and in general daily life. In other words, in the safe space of meditation, gradually get used to sitting with your feelings, whatever they are, letting them be rather than trying to change them. Give them space to exist, while you continue with the work of following your breath (or whatever meditation technique you're doing). This can then 'spill over' into everyday life, where you gradually learn to feel, let go of, and allow movement of, feelings like fears, while at the same time, getting on with whatever you need to do.

Like any other so called thing, the truth shall set you free.
You claim there are your fears which you could face.

Let’s see em. Post a picture. We’ll all ‘face em’ with a ya. ?

While you’re at it, get some footage of these “levels”, let’s have a look see about what’s feeding the so called fear as well.
