1st Day of Dynamic Meditation- Did I Break Myself?

6 posts in this topic

After a couple years of attempting various sitting meditations and one yoga system, I read some shit by Osho that said (I'm paraphrasing here), "If you try to sit with all your bullshit, you'll go crazy! Do a meditation where you voluntarily go crazy, then you'll find the stillness within!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then once you dance all your blocks out, THENN you can try all the sitting meditations in the world."

So I downloaded his book ""Meditation: The First and Last Freedom" and although confusing and contradictory, very insightful book. So I tried the first meditation listed: Dynamic Meditation, which I've attempted in the past, and is extremely hard. Think extreme self-expression catharsis meets intense cardio workout.

I put on the recommended music and started going wild in our backyard (we have a lot of neighbors so I was extremely self-conscious at first) and it was cathartic I think but Stage 3, I had trouble keeping my hands in the air (my shoulders and calves were burning like hellfire, and during Stage 4, when I was supposed to be completely still, my arms slowly fell down to my sides. It was almost unbearable to stand completely still and I couldn't take it so I went to the music and skipped to the Stage 5 music but then I thought "I completely fucked it up." so I just quit and here I am now.

I feel super weird.

And osho warned that if you do it wrong you'll break your mind or sum shit.

What do i do

@longusername12345 How are you feeling now?  Sometimes this type of shit is not easy to experience, but generally fades, and sometimes leaves a lightness of being as a result.

Yeah I feel slightly lighter. Less bullshit. More spacious. Definitely kind of a weird cracky feeling in my head, which is probably the result of not integrating surfaced traumas in the best way hahaha.

Also got vaccinated right after so that may also have an effect.

I might try it tomorrow if my arms not too sore

Just be mindful with this stuff, if your just doing this stuff for the first time, be conservative, like I wouldnt do it again for a few days, let yourself integrate.  I also found that with this stuff that sometimes this stuff your letting go of will resurface and try to fight its way back and you'll feel like acting this stuff out.  Do your best to remain calm and not freak out or do something you may regret the next day or moment, when it passes

Okay, sounds good. Thanks, man. The Osho Meidtation book says to try a technique for 3 days then if it resonates do it everyday for at least 3 months or so. Would you agree with this?

Also the intent of this, is to get out all the blocks I need to to go back to sitting yoga and meditation.

Any tips and suggestions?

I'd say be aware of the caution I mentioned and experiment.  Id say try again in a few days, and then wait a day and then try again if it does feel to raw.  Then continue with it, knowing that some strange unpleasant and hard stuff "may" come up, and to not do anything radical or stupid during these times.
