Why are modern men so weak?

86 posts in this topic

@bloomer I see, appreciate the clarifications. You are talking more on a societal level.

I guess i find it meaningless to get lost in that, but you raise valid points, all we can do is focus on ourselves and create the best life possible and be the best men possible.

I disagree on the moving thing, some countries are improving and have a much better vibe then the psychosis going on in america. I never felt very patriotic or fit in there so leaving wasn't a big deal, other cultures have a very strong masculine/feminine polarity like brazil for example

@Vivaldo Men have always been weak around women, especially the beautiful ones. Nothing has changed.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

@How to be wise lol ?

Fuck such simps. These men are good for nothing. But it's in our power to create a world where such men don't exists.

@Vivaldo I remember sitting in a room watching 4 or 5 guys who were chatting with each other, laid back, talking business, and then a hot girl came in the room. They all changed into jello. All of a sudden they were uncomfortable and nervous. Their entire physiology changed in a matter of seconds.

@Vivaldo doesn't it happen the same with women when a hot guy enters the room?

@Vivaldo I doubt it.

@Knowledge Hoarder yah especially men drool over girls

That's simpy and bullshit. Just makes me wonder how much we have to progress as a society. Damn we are still in the dark ages.

I remember my thoughts when guys were just checking out hot girls. "Damn, look at that ass!" Ok... but are you gonna do something about it, or are you just gonna drool over her like a dog?? That's what I was thinking secretly, each time I heard cringy shit like that.

You must be soo fun to hang with…

The obsession with fighting when I saw the black belt I trained with in Judo for the couple of months I've been there as well as seeing Dr.Keith Witt who did a lot of martials arts from integral. They will all tell you it's about smth. way deeper, yet they just like bashing heads and fighting. You can also see it (BOTH conscious and unconscious aspects). Especially when you meditate before you start the martial art etc. Same with holligans who learn martal arts to crush their heads and fight their enemies there is not much consciouness there. I do think working out that karma in a sense is good, yet hurting other people is just no a conscious way to deal with things and breeds this macho attitude that is just not good.

Duel-type activities are deeply masculine. I don't understand how you're missing it.

@Kshantivadin You are missing the entire point of several of my posts. I agree with you here that they are masculine and healthy especially martial arts. Yet, it's undeniable that many of them really also just like to fight and violence is not very conscious.

Overall martial arts and sports is a stage red activity. You can read that in the offical Spiral Dynamics book. Healthy red is positive, yet people shame each other for this. Especially if tier 2 is not activated. I would do martial arts if I'd would not be for my injury because I find it deeply inspiring or some more hardcore athletic training. Especially full-body.

You can make a hierachy out of it and stage each martial art if you want. I bet there are forms that are more non-violent and conscious because these two things don't correlate, especially considering even morals and history etc.

You can have multipe points of view, if it is a how to question we are basically in stage orange/blue territory often. Expert mode also.
----
Overall the activity itself is mostly placed at red, that does not mean the person doing the activity is red. He/She could be on a way higher plane of existence.

Especially with daoism and etc, I am not knowledgable in this stuff also there are not many people so deeply entrenched in martial arts that they are able to experience the art at a level like bruce lee. You can also see the art itself as a line of development if you want to be open to that idea/possibillity. There certainly is even kinesthetic intelligence at higher tiers.
----
Which would just include the body and not even the dynamic of masculine and feminine.

It's like saying Peter Ralston is a stage red and not higher.

Check out the book the zen body being. If you really like this stuff lmao.

  • Loaded question as the title
  • Mentions how he watched Fight Club
  • Immediate first response criticizes the title
  • Already four pages long

Am I late to the fight?

For what it's worth, I do feel like positive male role models are not pushed strongly enough in our society. Not that it's society's responsibility...I don't think.

As a young black man who doesn't fit into any of the current, "black man" stereotypes and popular images, it was hard to find a good black male role model, or at least it always felt like that. But I found some, but not before deciding to just, do it myself.

what do you guys think are some examples of male role models? @CodyXarex @Terell Kirby

i guess such a question is very subjective

to me it's men who lead with integrity, compassion, and ambition

Thanks for the recommendation!

I solely got the impression that there is either repression of Red qualities or simply not seeing how beautiful movement in the form of a duel (and duel itself) is.

@Kshantivadin Nah, definitely agree. I'd watch a good fight even with violence at best something artsy with tension.

Healthy red is good and also feels very good. I certainly do hold back red qualities the vulnerbility part is quite strong. Ppl. are not used to it also with the amount of decedancy present in society.

@Jacob Morres You mean specific individuals or characteristics?

Off the top of my head, it's men who refuse to subscribe to whatever stereotype there is for their race, ethnicity, or just gender in general. Men who spend time with kids and try to show them that it's possible to be a good man AND a strong man. That you don't have to choose between being weak and strange, or being obnoxious, toxic, manipulative, violent, misogynistic, predatory, narcissistic, or any of that shit.

A man that will show a boy that you can be whatever kind of man you want to be, and that you can try your best to do the right thing even in the worst of places, while also not allowing yourself to be a victim.

Ancient brains with animal instinct evolved strength through scarcity, that very strength evolved society to the point we are now born into modern times with abundance.  Our biology hasn't evolved fast enough with our technological / cultural evolution so these's a mis match. We aren't hardwired to do well in abundance of food, porn, machines doing our hard labour, it makes us weak. We have to soft wire ourselves to adapt and stay strong, using intelligence. We must live from intelligence more than from instinct, more from software than hardware or our own success will be our own demise.
