Why do I fear "Learning"?

6 posts in this topic

I don't know why. I'm trying to learn entrepreneurship, but why do I feel as if I'm doing something wrong for trying to research and learn about it?

I say to myself "You don't take action. You always think and think. You study hard but never take action on doing it."

I say this, when I haven't even studied entrepreneurship 40% as well as I would like to.

Why do I have this guilt about learning? As if I'm like an MBA student who knows all the concepts and theory, but doesn't know how to implement any of it in action. I guilt myself as if I'm a pedantic hypocrite for even just trying to read a book by Peter Drucker "The Effective Executive", or watch courses from Eben Pagan, or read a book from Joseph Juran.

I do know for a while recently I've judged people harshly for being stuck in "thinking and learning" but not "taking action". Is this back firing on me?

It's scary because it's... well.... threatening for your ego.

It's scary to take an action because you might fail, you are biased toward failure like most of us. you want to avoid it because it's unpleasant feeling.

The solution is to accept the fact that you're going to fail, no matter how much your theory is good, you're going to fail somehow when you take an action, no one guarantee us 100% success, it's a trial an error process.

This is how we are truly learn and this is how we are truly develop ourselves, by action, theory is very important but it can't be complete without the practice, only by practice you can grow.

You can't avoid failure, never, as long as you're living human, you should find a way to be more easy on yourself and more forgiving when you fail, when things go not as you expected them to be.

I don't fear learning anymore. It's part of the process. I used to have trouble reading 20 pages a day but now I can do that no problem. It is part of habit. I used to have trouble listening to audios for more than 5 hours daily but now it's harder for me not to watch video/listen audio.

The learning doesn’t feel off, the self referential thoughts feel off.

Why do I have this guilt about learning?

It’s the result of discordant self referential thinking. It creates an impression there are two of you, and ‘one of you feels guilty for the way it talks to the other’.

It is not possible for you to guilt yourself because there are not two of you.

Learn the emotional scale. Guilt is an emotion, created by the thoughts you focus on. Express the jealousy for the win, and continue expressing up the scale.

Do you think you lack in self love?  I am learning that can have a lot to do with procrastination when it comes to taking action.

People fear success almost as much as they fear failure.. it's totally natural... with success comes responsibility and greater expectations on us from others... it also means leaving behind what is comfortable and familiar...
