Leo is not enlightened

76 posts in this topic

Always describing, describing, describing. Getting lost in description. To evolve spiritually and become a master, the most important thing is to stop describing. What you are searching for is indescribable. It is not love, it is not god, it is not the divine, it is not the non-dual. Those are all descriptions and concepts. They are fairy tales and phantoms. What you're searching for is not a concept and it is not a description. What can be worded is not the truth.

You are getting people confused. The short term satisfaction they get from you will not last and they will end up more frustrated and more confused. Such is the nature of knowledge - the more you speak, the less you end up saying. The wisest teachers never say a word.

Psychedelics will never awaken you, you are pursuing a kindergarten variety enlightenment with these means. Using these substances will only achieve in getting you more lost. The higher you get, the lower you will fall. Stop thinking - this is all that is required. When the mind is quiet truth comes.

Then why are you talking?

Projection.

Leo is not enlightened according to what enlightenment actually meant before people started changing the definition to fit their own agenda. Everything (and non thing) and everyone (and no one) is enlightenment however.

Regardless, he’s doing great work which is Authentic, and that’s really more important than being enlightened.

What did the stage orange scientist call the stage blue fundamentalist for claiming YHWH intentionally caused Noah’s great flood?

Delugional.

The point of those words is not to be a replacement for the truth, but to be a pointer. One who understands this, doesn't use them as directly  representative of or equal to Truth, but as hinting at what must be experienced for oneself. Of course, the Truth cannot be told or communicated, but that doesn't mean that we can't use pointers - knowing very well, that they don't point at the thing itself, but which must function as an incentive to look for oneself.

Mistaking the pointer with what is pointed at is fairy tales and phantoms, but seeing the ineffable for oneself is not. And then it's perfectly fine to talk about God and Love and whatnot.

Thinking that one mustn't use words shows just as much attachment to the word as one who mistakes the word with the ineffable.

@sir meowski Don't be dogmatic.

Pointers are a concept just the same, they should not be given special treatment. Look beyond the conceptual. There is where you will find the spring of Life.

Yeah. That's exactly why we use words. To make you go beyond words. There's nothing wrong with using descriptions and words, so long as you understand that they're not "it".

With your logic, you shouldn't speak.

Double standard much ?

Unattachment has been thoroughly explored for thousands of years. Leo is doing his own thing.

@sir meowski Leo always says verify everything for yourself, the fact that you get confused or get satisfaction from his videos is your problem.

I think you should be more specific about what you think is false you are basically saying you should not describe anything so based on your logic we should not be reading books or listening to any spiritual advice.

Look mate. It’s called teaching! I’m looking forward to Leo’s next 2 hour video where he just sits in silence and looks into the camera? sounds like that’s what you would call a great teaching. Behave yaself fooling around with such idiocy. Humorous

Sitting in silence for 2 hours would be by far the most profound video ever produced. But it is not interesting for the hyperactive mind. You need something to get excited about.

This is not about him, it's about you. Why are you trying to look at things from his perspective and apply your logic to it? You see him describing things therefore you assume he is ''not enlightened'' according to your paradigm. He is simply teaching you (which you cannot do if it weren't for words) . He's not asking for you to teach him.

I used to think that way too.

I was rather heavily influenced by Zen Buddhism (mostly Sōtō, some Rinzai). Many people I met have the exact same attitude like you, including some (but not all) of the masters.

But sitting in silence for 2 hours is only one way of coming to an understanding of Buddha Nature. It doesn't do you nor anyone else any good to be dogmatic about how we ought to practice. Zazen is only one way.

Not all ways are suitable for everyone, and not every way will lead to the same results for everyone. Every good master understand this. In fact, they know their individual students so well that they wouldn't even dream of telling everyone to practice the same way. They have something called "Mondō " (which is essentially like a Zen Satsang) where the students can ask questions and the master will give them an answer. This answer can be a spoken word, it can be laughing, it can be throwing something at the student, it can be sitting in silence, anything.

Sitting in silence is only one way of sitting in silence.

Imagine that you were present at a Mondō, and one of your fellow students asked the master something, and the master gave him a rather long-winded answer. Would you in all seriousness stand up and tell the master, "You should have kept your mouth shut! Stop confusing your students by telling them fairy tales about Buddha-mind, you should have sat on your Zafu in silence for two minutes and everything would have become clear!"

Of course not, that would be ridiculous. And extremely dogmatic.

Teachings which are presented as truth yet succeed only in having you chase your own tail until you collapse from exhaustion are irrelevant and misleading. My teachers are the sun and the mountain, and the morning mist that surrounds them.
