Are All Spiritual Circles Full of Delusion and a waste of time?

12 posts in this topic

I am inherently a lone wolf and don’t like commitments with other groups. So, I don’t stay loyal to any one group. But, I feel like I’ll be wasting my time and risking exploration going to spiritual in-person communities.

Everybody I talk to does not have my level of understanding, I teach them, etc.

It sucks not having a community of real life people to share this path with. I literally just want to be stage green community, but I don’t want to get sucked into a Hare Krishna cult. I mean, you saw how the Christian community brainwashed me last year after my mystical experiences with Jesus.

I’m being cognizant to study epistemology, cult videos, and not let people gaslight me.

'It sucks not having a community of real life people to share this path with.'

yeah i feel that holy shit... , i was hard gaslit by a commune voluteer group a while ago i joined but it has helped in the long run. i think ultimately it is important not to sweep it under the rug and keep searching

but in terms of your own spiritual growth i think it's essential, especially for a repressed westerner who needs to constantly try to surface up things with other people. being alone is really limited in this part of the world, maybe that would work if u were born in some indian village where u were praised for doing it

just be here, if you can do it this moment you can do it the next moment

this is the now, now is all that is real, the truth is now, not your concept or experience, just this

is there suffering in this ? work to be done young jedi. me

@catcat69123 amen man. It’s crazy how any of these groups will never live up to this community, ever. If they do, it’ll be rare.

Im waiting for Leo to start building infrastructure for more in person retreats and shit like that!

@EntheogenTruthSeeker I think it dose depend on where you live in the world, I have come to accept that it will be rare to find a spiritual community that aligns completely with my values and understanding but I am slowly building my own community/tribe and also gain value from visiting other communities more for the connection with other likeminded people.

You sound like you are very aware of the pitfalls of cults and gaslighting so you should be fine, just go and experiment and maybe start your own one?

@EntheogenTruthSeeker Contemplate what is culture and what keeps spiritual circles together, as a small society.

Bearing with the conditioned in gentleness, fording the river with resolution, not neglecting what is distant, not regarding one's companions; thus one may manage to walk in the middle. H11L2

the higher your consciousness the less you mind others leeching off you

their leeching is your loving

You can create belonging among non-spiritual people. What is stopping you from doing that?

Create the community that you want to live in. That's something I'm personally working towards right now. But of course, you need people who are on the same page to begin with. So a first step would be to find these people who are devoted and grounded and willing to give themselves to a greater thing. Then, together, we can show the world how human beings can be together, what is possible. There might not be a single example of how great we can be out there. But probably there is, and we can learn from that :)

Go wherever, experience whatever. There’s no commitment.

Without believing in a my level of understanding there’s nothing to protect & nothing at risk.

Clearly what you want to experience is in conflict with the belief you are a lone wolf. Favor the experience imo. (I am inherently a ______ isolates, separates, thought wise)

A future is not a your past. Your past is like your understanding. If you have these not there is nothing to protect, nothing to lose, no risk. Maybe if you learn from each other and are parallel (vs identifying at all as the teacher) there is relief instead of risk as well.

It’s entirely possible to just spend time enjoying the company, without any contention in regard to spirituality. ‘Normal’, even.

They sure can be a waste... as awakening is a not really a group thing, the most profound insights are gained in isolation / deep contemplation.

However, circles can help .. if you don't become too attached to various corruptions of group think.
